Ok so the overnight parts finally arrived for the gearbox. I had a spare 10 minutes today so I decided to fully assemble the mainshaft. EVERY gear on this shaft is now brand new! As it currently stands:
Then it was time to look at the twin fan mounts. Here's the new ally rad with my twin 10"...
Yeah they're a tad extravagant tbh. Piece of piss to install though. My oil lines are less than 1mtr in length for the pair of them as well. I have always been told -10 for oil lines mate so that's what I've opted for.
Have a look at the speedflow push on hose and hose ends. Not expensive at...
Cheers! Nah mate. Cba tbh! This is just all a bit of fun for me really, so whatever power it makes I'll be happy with. If it was all out performance I would've run it on itbs from the off, but I prefer to do things a bit different.
You want -10 oil cooler pipes mate so whatever the equivalent is in imperial.
Laminova coolers are where it's at. You can't get a stone through one of them.
Imo yes mate. It'll put substantially more strain on the gearbox as instead of losing the energy through 1 wheel spinning, it will spin both and put more load on the drivetrain. 1st and 2nd gear will be the likely culprit for failure. Interestingly though, Renault have re-designed these gears so...
Nice! What cams are you running then? Purely just out of curiosity as there's not much selection, or at least that's how it appears anyway. 221bhp at .4 bar is not to be sniffed at either. Steel crank and rods?
You'll probably find that you need to run a minimum of 400lb springs on the rear and 475-525's on the front. The gaz stuff has come on leaps and bounds now tbf, but they still ain't at the same level as asts or kw's imo. Nowhere near.
Well they helped to take my car around the nordschliefe in 8:31 mate, so they'll be plenty good enough for UK roads. Tbh I loved them to bits and sometimes wished I'd upgraded to the custom kw's instead of the ast's.
Well still waiting on overnight parts so I decided to drop the coolant and make a start on getting the engine and box ready to lift out. Also had a chance to offer the new smaller ally rad up to see what mounts I need to fabricate.
You can see in this shot some of the mods to the slam panel for...
