Well factor in a new set of those as well mate. No point putting new springs on old dampers as you'll only end up doing the job twice when the dampers s**t themselves. You'll also reap the benefits of the new setup much more mate.
I'd consider BC's over the bilsteins personally. They're adjustable damping, readily available and cheap. Better quality than the likes of Gaz as well. You can spec different spring rates and from what I've seen they do the bizzo.
A solid allround performer I'd say.
They will add the leftover fuel from the line into the cylinder when you turn the engine over mate. It could potentially try to fire slightly and give false readings
I've never had to top the oil up on mine mate, even after road, trackday and Nurburgring abuse. Yeah it uses a tad, but nowhere near 1L.
It could well be pistons/rings showing signs of wear then mate.
I agree, really like that on gold wheels!
I foolishly looked at the prices of these the other day and I blame you. Lol! I'll be sticking with the Clio though methinks.................f**k me are they expensive! :dizzy:
You need to do a wet test really mate. Does it use any oil? It could be one of many things, or a combination tbh.
Could be rings, could be valves need lapping in again, could be a head gasket on its way out, could be cracked ring lands on the piston (burns oil as well though usually), could be...
Your 197 injectors will be fine for the power you'll be running mate. Just up the pressure if there's any concerns. Alternatively you could use Meg 250 injectors as they've got the same nozzle on them as a 197 injector I believe.
How much is it to stay at the Linder Ferienpark out of interest? I normally stay in leafy herschbroich. The hotel is pretty much directly below the karussell. Just a shame it's a 30min uphill walk to get there! Lol!
Great stuff. Once I've got an idea on what's what I'll be in touch.
@Fletcher @TimR26 @Cub. operation 'sub 8:15' will more than likely to be in 2016 for me now, so I shall keep you posted if you fancy going at the same time. It's usually around the same time as the truck racing or dtm is on at the gp circuit when I go as well (July/August). James (BIGASH) will...
Oh and clonking noise will more than likely be the gripper mate. I'm assuming you've not driven a box with a gripper in before? Or has it only just started doing it after the rebuild?
Well the oil could be the cause of your crunch, but what stuff was replaced as part of your rebuild? Who did it?
Personally I'd get that oil out of the box asap and run it on the oe oil for the time being. The brass synchros can be attacked by the oil if it's the incorrect stuff.
I'd pretty much bet that they lost it coming over the bump just before entry into the left hander (schwedenkreuz) on the straight section (flugplatz). It's one of the fastest sections of the circuit with proper cars pulling 170+. In the clio I'm pulling a measly 135+, so if the Meg driver was on...
Renault Wolverhampton is the place for the items you need mate, but I can't comment on the price of them as it's not something I've bought.
The seal I'm on about is the original type that requires the box stripping. Easy when you know how, just time consuming.
Camber first, then tracking. You need to do the tracking immediately afterwards though ideally as you will be getting massive amounts of toe in after camber adjustment.
Sounds like your pump is on its way out too I'm afraid.
Yeah piece of piss mate. It's a bit tight for space but it's doable. M12x1, M14x1 and M16x1 from memory. The last 2 may be 1.25/1.5 but without looking I can't say 100%. I'll have a look on my spare rack on Monday night when I'm back in work.
