Best handling set up - daily/track use (mainly daily atm)

Yes, plus you'll need them to dial some camber in.

Best handling set up - daily/track use (mainly daily atm)

They're not too expensive mate. Get them from one of the traders on here. About £50 each for fronts and about £30-£40 each for the rears.

Burpspeed Version 2: Race Car Build

Looks to have ph1 headlights to me mate.

Best handling set up - daily/track use (mainly daily atm)

Well factor in a new set of those as well mate. No point putting new springs on old dampers as you'll only end up doing the job twice when the dampers s**t themselves. You'll also reap the benefits of the new setup much more mate.

    Track day suspension options....

I'd consider BC's over the bilsteins personally. They're adjustable damping, readily available and cheap. Better quality than the likes of Gaz as well. You can spec different spring rates and from what I've seen they do the bizzo. A solid allround performer I'd say.

    Piston rings or head

They will add the leftover fuel from the line into the cylinder when you turn the engine over mate. It could potentially try to fire slightly and give false readings

    197 brembo front calipers

@Cub. should be able to help you out with this one mate.

Making the Rear a bit more lively

    Yeah they sell shims mate.

    Piston rings or head

Ah yeah that sounds more normal then mate.

    Piston rings or head

I've never had to top the oil up on mine mate, even after road, trackday and Nurburgring abuse. Yeah it uses a tad, but nowhere near 1L. It could well be pistons/rings showing signs of wear then mate.

Not bad for 26 years old

I agree, really like that on gold wheels! I foolishly looked at the prices of these the other day and I blame you. Lol! I'll be sticking with the Clio though methinks.................f**k me are they expensive! :dizzy:

    Piston rings or head

You need to do a wet test really mate. Does it use any oil? It could be one of many things, or a combination tbh. Could be rings, could be valves need lapping in again, could be a head gasket on its way out, could be cracked ring lands on the piston (burns oil as well though usually), could be...

    Bigger Injectors

Your 197 injectors will be fine for the power you'll be running mate. Just up the pressure if there's any concerns. Alternatively you could use Meg 250 injectors as they've got the same nozzle on them as a 197 injector I believe.

    Fletch's 150k 172 Project..

How much is it to stay at the Linder Ferienpark out of interest? I normally stay in leafy herschbroich. The hotel is pretty much directly below the karussell. Just a shame it's a 30min uphill walk to get there! Lol! Great stuff. Once I've got an idea on what's what I'll be in touch.

    Gripper lsd/gearbox rebuild

I'm gonna have to sit on the fence on this one mate, as I'm really not sure. What oil did you have in the box before?

    Fletch's 150k 172 Project..

@Fletcher @TimR26 @Cub. operation 'sub 8:15' will more than likely to be in 2016 for me now, so I shall keep you posted if you fancy going at the same time. It's usually around the same time as the truck racing or dtm is on at the gp circuit when I go as well (July/August). James (BIGASH) will...

    Gripper lsd/gearbox rebuild

No it shouldn't have caused any lasting issues mate. You just need to get it out asap. Hmmm sounds like there's something a miss there then mate.

    Gripper lsd/gearbox rebuild

Oh and clonking noise will more than likely be the gripper mate. I'm assuming you've not driven a box with a gripper in before? Or has it only just started doing it after the rebuild?
  19. NorthloopCup

    Gripper lsd/gearbox rebuild

Well it's more than likely the oil that's causing the issue mate if Martin did the rebuild tbh. See my previous post.

    Gripper lsd/gearbox rebuild

Just googled it - get it out asap! It's not gear oil it's LSD oil. 2 totally different things!!
  21. NorthloopCup

    Gripper lsd/gearbox rebuild

Well the oil could be the cause of your crunch, but what stuff was replaced as part of your rebuild? Who did it? Personally I'd get that oil out of the box asap and run it on the oe oil for the time being. The brass synchros can be attacked by the oil if it's the incorrect stuff.

    197 6 speed box into 172

Your better off fitting a jc5 089 if your driving a ph2 172/182 mate. That's the longer ratio box out the ph1. Otherwise your pretty much fucked.
  23. NorthloopCup

    197 6 speed box into 172

You need to run the 197 block as well mate. It won't fit on the 172 block. Ever.

    Oooops megane content

I'd pretty much bet that they lost it coming over the bump just before entry into the left hander (schwedenkreuz) on the straight section (flugplatz). It's one of the fastest sections of the circuit with proper cars pulling 170+. In the clio I'm pulling a measly 135+, so if the Meg driver was on...

Making the Rear a bit more lively

Yeah you'll need shims to adjust the rear toe. You need to get the alignment measured first though.

leaking selector seal, gearbox leak fix

Renault Wolverhampton is the place for the items you need mate, but I can't comment on the price of them as it's not something I've bought. The seal I'm on about is the original type that requires the box stripping. Easy when you know how, just time consuming.
  27. NorthloopCup

    Camber Or Toe?

Camber first, then tracking. You need to do the tracking immediately afterwards though ideally as you will be getting massive amounts of toe in after camber adjustment. Sounds like your pump is on its way out too I'm afraid.

Pictures of your looped rack for EPAS. What fittings have you used?

Yeah piece of piss mate. It's a bit tight for space but it's doable. M12x1, M14x1 and M16x1 from memory. The last 2 may be 1.25/1.5 but without looking I can't say 100%. I'll have a look on my spare rack on Monday night when I'm back in work.

Help needed with my 182 track car

You'll be fine on this setup mate around the ring. It's track knowledge that's more of a benefit to setup around there.
