Re: Taking The 172 Of The Road...
make sure petrol tank is nearly empty. Drain engine oil. Remove wheels and put car on axle stands, put wheels inside the car to keep them dry. Remove all brake pads on the car to stop them rusting on the discs. Lube calipers. Before all this give the car a...
Re: Realisticly?
you would be looking at 5k tops if you were to sell now in the current climate. Whether or not it's had a new engine and box. Infact I would nearly go as far as saying the fact it's had a new engine and box would put many people off the car. It wouldn't bother me though.
Yes your right, Renault muppets decided to design a new twin pipe exhaust for the 182 and run it straight through the spare wheel well, hence no spare wheel.
172 cup didn`t have one either, just 2 cans of tyre foam.......yes there s**t but its worth it to save 20kg IMO
yours would be a x reg at that age so I guess it falls into the catergory where they were running low on alloy bonnets hence why yours had the steel one, I wouldn't worry it's been in a crash. Hope this helps
only the early ph1s had them mainly the w reg plates and some x regs although there are a few y plates that had them too. Was just a bit of a hit and miss at the factory if Renault had the lightweight bonnet in stock to fit or not
obviously ph1 172 is the way forward but there are plenty of others to choose from.
2k will get ya a decent motor in this climate and there are bargins to be had if you look about, especially ebay and pistonheads, saw a mint 306 rallye go on ebay for 2200 last week!!
why not buy a clio 16v...
^^^^^ exactly right, damaged repaired is just a clever way of describing the fact that this car has been a cat d or cat c insurance write off
dont touch it with a barge pole!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes and no
Yes because, its more practical, better on fuel, cheaper tax, insurance, running costs, more seats, rear tyres will last 2 years not 2 months, both cars are worth about the same, recaro seats in the 197 are the best seats in the world ever, who wants a V6 in the current climate??
No...
This topic has often been discussed on the Gt turbo forums and most people reckon that york is slightly faster than the pod, one gt turbo owner once managed a 11.9-12.3 all day at york but could not do any better than 12.6 at the pod, quite unbelievable but true! But there are many factors to...
