    Dont poke the rust!

got some swirls going on there as well:)

Probs been posted Real Road Going Cup Racer!

that actually seems fairly cheap compared with the RRP of a standard car; how much would it cost to retro-fit a sequential gearbox for starters? is there a market for it though?!

Shall i keep my Flaps on??

    ^ ^Cheers

Shall i keep my Flaps on??

how are they fixed? don't have to drill any holes do you?

Shall i keep my Flaps on??

they don't look too upsetting imo. would these also help prevent stone chipping to the front of the rear arch?

    Oil and filter change guide

^ that's right - they're called dowty seals; there's a rubber seal bonded to the inside diameter of the washer

    what tyres?

that's a shame as they're cheap, wear well and grip well; i've had a few sets (road/track/sprint - wet and dry) - they're easily the best of the cheaper options imo.:)

    what tyres?

despite what people who can't drive in the wet say, there's nothing wrong with Yokohama A539s - if you can still find a set

    Oil and filter change guide

You will need: - 5l oil, new sump plug seal, oil filter - 10mm socket to remove undertray - Sump plug key (7 or 8mm square socket – can’t remember which) - Suitable ratchet - Possibly, a strap wrench to remove the old filter - Catch tray; eg. old...

    Tracking

not necessarily as most cars will follow the camber of the road which is to the left in this country (to allow for water drainage). that said, if it has become more pronounced recently it's worth getting it checked just in case.

    Michelin Cup Racer Slicks....

don't know what kind of truth there is in this but i'd heard that you used to be able pick these up for nowt if you were in the right place at the right time (ie. in the paddock after a race meeting) i reckon you could possibly get £300ish for the good set and possibly half that for the well...

    Big D1 Drift crash

i wonder how often they come together like that when they're doing the side by side stuff - must happen every now and again. and they actually look quite quick those cars - pretty daft stuff really imo:clown:

    Bald road tyres--good track tyres

not a good idea as you've no idea how long it'll take to wear through the carcass
  14. H

    Big D1 Drift crash

    would that have scored extra?

    is this normal?

is it doing it in the dry? they've got pretty good traction imo and you'd either have to be fairly keen with the clutch or have a problem (possibly with the tyres) before you experienced violent wheel spin in the dry it's much easier to provoke in the wet though and will scrabble around if you...

    is this normal?

it's normal - you just need to take it a bit steadier!

    Annoying noise...

'chugging' - could it be a binding brake? first thing to do is decide which wheel is making the noise, then whip that wheel off and check all of the spinning parts - tyre, wheel, wheel bearing and brake at the back; same again at the front plus diff and driveshaft/cv joint

    Any rules on trackdays abroad?

don't think that's that bad - they're threading their way through the traffic a bit but that only seems to be because everyone else appears to be on a parade lap:quiet: surprising the F40 doesn't romp away more convincingly than it does although guess the driver might not be giving it the...

    2004 172 cup

would an '04 not likely be worth more than that? i'd guess closer 7k for a good standard car of that age - ? have a look around to see what sort of money cars of a similar age go for. those mods are going to put a lot of potential buyers off though - esp. the cosmetic ones IMO.

    Pad tracking???

they were possibly referring to one of the pre-electronic tracking methods which involved driving onto small metal discs which were free to spin around on a base plate. £20 sounds alright though.

    Creaking in the cold???

these washers go under the strut top cups under the bonnet; dead easy to fit - undo the nut (might need to use an impact wrench), remove the nut and the cup (they're pressed together and come off as one assembly) then just drop the spacer washer over the damper rod and replace the cup and nut...

    My new Clio V6

looks as though the c pillars have been snipped but not the a and b pillars - ? is that an engine removal trick?

    Cheeky Fooker

where has he got the picture from though? is it one you've taken? i'd be bemused too if a picture of mine turned up as a library image in someone else's advert

    Cheeky Fooker

^ he does at least say that it's a 'library picture' in that ad where's the library he's used though?!

How many 172/182 owners engine mounts are banging?

not sure it would have cost Renault any more to use stiffer mounts - all they need have done is increase the shore hardness of the rubber in them. the hardness they'll have gone with will be a compromise between the longevity of the mounts and comfort. . i don't reckon they're up to much as...

    driving lights??

there's nothing to be getting away with as far as i know - there are plenty of cars that are fitted with driving lamps (as standard equipment) in the same approximate location as other cars' fog lamps (eg. 205 GTi).

    quick oil question (182)

gah! SJC quoted me £44 for Excellium (managed to get them down to £35) - can i ask where you got yours from for £25? was it recently? . (apols to shotgunsjay for the intrusion)
  29. H

    driving lights??

planning on doing this at some point too although mine's already got fog lamps and the associated wiring harness. haven't looked into it yet but i assume you'd need the plastic mouldings that support the Renault fog lamps and would then need to source some identically sized/secured aftermarket...
