Simon - Gave it a try as per your instructions, but tickover is still exactly the same. Not tried driving it yet, though...Are you sure about it being three presses of the accelerator pedal?

Lowered mine last week as well (inspired by Telford Mikes experiences!). A supposed 25mm on Spax spring, but on measuring is about 30mm. Its done wonders for the handling. Flat as a steamrollered pancake. However, as someone mentioned in a thread on the main forum, the car will slide easier in...
BenR - excellent explanation; pretty much answers the question and knocks the water cooling thing on the head. The air conditioning thing briefly crossed my mind with my last car, but it seemed like a lot of hassle for something that Id probably screw up and end up busting altogether...
mike - thanks, just what I wanted to hear. Think Ill go for it, especially if I can get away without mentioning it to Insurance/Renault/Girlfriend
Rhys
telford_mike - did you fit them yourself? If not, now much did you pay for fitting and have you told your insurance company (and how much extra on premium?)?!
Cheers,
Rhys
Bugger - well, Im not going to argue with you, but would water cooled air not be the same as getting a better supply of air from outside the car (which I cant easily get)? Im sure cold air gives better perfomance than warm air...
Oh yeah, I think telling insurance is a good idea. Wouldnt like...

Has anyone had any experience with this sort of thing? In the warm weather yesterday, my MK2 172 felt really sluggish, especially at low revs and when crawling along in traffic. Its...
"handbraked round a 90 degree corner and did some damage to the front side panel" - lol! And you wonder why insurance companies dont want you driving a 2 litre car!!!!!
I dont know if that front spoiler will fit your car, but the 2.0 and the 1.2 do have slightly different bodies, Im afraid...
Tim - if it was, he was persecuting a Corsa or something. Was going to give chase but had to burn some arsehole off at the lights (and then drive through a Gatso at 60mph. Arse). Why is your mate not a member on this site then?!
Rhys
Clio_Williams - out of interest, do you live anywhere near Sheffield? Saw a Willy of your description (twin lamps and gold 17"s) near Meadowhall earlier today....
Thanks for the replies. Still undecided about what to do. Part of the problem is that they are cheap, wont harm the car in any way and look damned good under the bonnet. What a sucker, eh?!
Rhys
Can anyone tell me:
1. Which braces I can put on a MK2 172 without drilling the car (if any)?
2. Where can I get them from and for how much?
3. Should I bother with both front and rear braces?
Cheers,
Rhys
viceroy - chatted to you before about 1.4 16vers last June when I got mine (had a 1.4 16v Alize 3dr). Just swapped it for a 172 and the difference is immense. Rather than spending a load on making it a bit better, if there is any way you can manage it, go straight for a 172.
Not knocking your...
Go to www.needforspeed.co.uk and from the menu select "Car Part" then scroll down and select "Supercharger kits". Note at the bottom of the page it says:
"In addition to the above, the kit will have to be plumbed in by the fitter. However, this is not a major job, and we can offer advice if...
Clio novice - How BenR has told you: that is exactly what I did to mine. Some gimp opened their door into my bump strip and now I have a large ugly hole in the bumpstrip paint on the drivers door. As I am selling the car I am having to replace them. Andyspares couldnt get me any and Renault are...
Nooo....dont do it! Ill tell you how to if you want, but unless you really know what youre doing, its a pain in the arse. Specially after someone opens a door into the strip and chips the paint. Then you either have to remove all the paint or try and patch it up again. Both methods suck.
If...
Does anyone know where I could get my hands on some gold Oz F1 Cups in 16"? Ive noticed Toolman Tims 172 in the gallery with the wheels in this colour and reckon theyd look just right on a Monaco Blue 172!
