Interesting. I get the noise under acceleration. I was a bit suprise to notice today that the left hand engine mounting seems really loose. I can shake the engine around in the bay. I guess thats a bad thing. Better get it checked out! Rhys

I bought a 205 GTi too. Its NOT a shed, but it is a project Needed cleaning up, which is now done (apart from removing a bloody tow bar, of all things) and servicing (done) and some new rear shocks. The engine is on 101000 miles but (fingers crossed) starts first time, even after being laid up...

I think the performance of a 1.2 16v is excellent. Think of it this way, lets say the 1.2 16v has 85bhp/tonne and can do 1/4 mile in 20 seconds. Now imagine some dirty great sports bike with 500bhp/tonne that can do the 1/4 mile in 10 seconds. By this test, the bike is only twice as quick at the...

Not so hot on that idea myself. Im looking at it from the point of view that I wouldnt put a Williams badge on a 172, even though I think the Willy/16ver is an amazing car. People would throw eggs at me or something if I did that! Rhys

gaj16v - ooh....good moral dilema question! I reckon yes, having the interior is okay as it is a functional part of the car designed for comfort. People are also unlikely to sit in a valver and think it is a 172 as they would see the car when they get in. I suppose if you made them close their...
