    Air Filter

Put it as close to you can to the front of the engine-bay - away from the engine. The place where the airbox goes is probably as good as youll get.

    Air Filter

Hi Amarillo, and welcome to Cliosport :D A conical filter wont make much difference to the fuelling on your car, so unless it really seems to be running lean I doubt youll need to adjust the ECU. These filters dont work too well on large-engined clios unless youre getting lots of cold air...

    Rattle/Vibration from engine

Itll get rid of the problem for sure. Exhausts are available from lots of places - http://www.k-tecracing.comK-tec racing and http://www.demon-tweeks.com/Demon Tweeks are popular (for Demon Tweeks you really need a catalogue).

    What makes a difference

Hi Rhys, there were about 20 of us that day - all the results in the bhp section - Wilcox Competition Engines. I think Kathys car was standard engine-wise and hers made 150 atw vs 158 that I got. It is noticable that the top 3 cars in the list all have Magnex or K-tec exhausts. I think (in...

    Rattle/Vibration from engine

Most people have had a new centre section under warranty. Itll probably go again though, and youll end up getting a new exhaust anyway. A new one will come with a lifetime warranty and it soooo nice! http://dialspace.dial.pipex.com/town/pipexdsl/q/aqyd89/zorst7.jpg

    Rattle/Vibration from engine

This sounds like the famous 4k rattle. Its the exhaust, usually the centre box. Either take it back for Renault to fix, or chuck the exhaust away and get a Magnex / K-tec or whatever stainless steel exhaust you prefer.

    What makes a difference

You can get close to 190 with the usual stuff as loony says. Theres lots of stuff about for the 172 these days.

    Halfords Hands Free Kits

Can it really be that bad? In what way? Are we saying it doesnt work at all, poor sound quality, fooks up the phone? What? On the other hand, if you are saying that Halfords advertise it, take your money and then cant actually supply it, Ill believe it without further question.

You need to do the tracking. Nothing else as far as Im aware.

    renault can’t fix my 172

This is normal. Its caused by the need for the engine to comply with emission regs even while its warming up.

    CUP with Climate Control

Another Mike - welcome mate :D Its not the weight that should concern you - its the drag on the engine that the compressor causes. Dont worry about it - youll really appreciate the a/c next summer!

    Using a trolley jack on a 172

I watched the mechanics using trolley jacks at Donington - they used the regular jacking points under the sills. Id try ramps.

    Is My Air-Con/CC Working

No its not. Warm air with CC is still dehumidified. Just leave it on AUTO all the time, and use the demist button when it gets a bit steamy.

    Track Day Insurance

Whatever you do dont rely on your normal insurance unless you have written confirmation in triplicate signed by the Pope that trackdays are covered. They might say one thing on the phone, but just try making a claim! That said I personally never bother. The premiums are expensive and the cover...

    Cleaning

Youll get lots of opinions on this. I use Mer shampoo & wax - it works well and its cheap as Tesco sell it :D. Dont take it to the asylum seeker car wash
  28. telford_mike

    Eggy smell

The eggy smell is a gas called Hydrogen Sulphide. It is produced by your cat. Might be worth a trip to your dealer or an exhaust centre to check for leaks, as this really shouldnt be noticable under normal circumstances.

    Magnex and Cup

I watched them do it but I was sitting by the wheels at DT drinking coffee so wasnt really taking any notice. I know it was in 1 piece cos they asked me if I wanted to take it home!

    Another question on the Magnex

Lee, any time you want to give my car a clean mate just come on round mate youre putting me to shame. :D The backbox isnt noticable at all unless you look from ground level. http://homepages.tesco.net/~mmikee/zorst/zorst2.jpg
