The bigger & heavier you go the more the in-gear acceleration is bound to suffer. Just try spinning a big 26" wheel on a pushbike by hand - then try a smaller wheel on a BMX. The difference is though that the car decelerates less during gearchanges as the bigger wheel is a bigger energy store...
They are illegal, but very nice. We have ENG on the Megane rather than GB,
and the 3 lions footie motif ghosted into the plate
- it was a Euro 2000 thing. Never had any trouble over it.
I can get you a part number later if you want Gary, but theres only one Eibach Pro kit. Eibach dont quote a figure for how much it lowers the car - hence the confusion. £205 all-in is ok. I paid £120 for the springs, £40 for fitting and £28 for wheel alignment.
Whether or not you believe the power gain claims, you can save money by fitting a re-usable panel filter, as you dont have to pay your dealer to fit a paper one each time you have a service.
Its pretty easy to save 50kg by stripping the interior. The spare wheel and toolkit weigh tons.
My best-ever go faster mod has been Eibach springs - they really make a difference and you can buy them and get them fitted and still have change out of £200. And, as Iain says, they improve the...
There is no torsion bar on the current Clios - its just 4 springs & thats it. Insurance depends on your company - most wont charge any extra but they do like to know. In theory warranty is affected, depends on your dealer though. Shocks may wear a little quicker but thats about it.
Most people get the twin 3", and believe me they are LOUD! I guess all the backboxes are more or less the same, never heard / seen the 4" but it should be pretty tasty.
Assuming your photoshopped rims are 17"s, this is what you get
with an Eibach Pro kit and 17"s http://dialspace.dial.pipex.com/town/pipexdsl/q/aqyd89/wheel.jpg
welcome to the forum mate :)
Less is more.
Strip out the interior first, -5% kerb weight, cost: £0
Then you can do zorst / induction / chip, +15bhp if youre lucky: £1,000
chuck all that away and then...
throttle bodies, +40bhp: £5,000
Its a costly business getting over 190bhp.
loony is right of course - if you choose the wheels that you like and order them from Demon Tweeks or another well known shop you can leave the details to them - just tell them you want 16"s for your car, then its their problem if they dont fit.
Or get some Eibachs, and no scrubbing at all with 17"s, even with a carful of passengers. Coilovers are undoubtedly better if you can afford them though. Eibach Pro kit will cost around £120, plus around £40 for fitting at your local garage, plus wheel alignment at your local tyre centre.
Have a look <A target=_blank href= "http://www.cliosport.net/styling/tyreguide.asphere its really helpful. I think 172 wheels will go straight on, so anything thats good for a 172 in a 16" fitting should be ok.
