I think another plus of the V6 is that theres really no need to spend a lot on mods. You can buy it, leave it as it is and know that youre driving something really exclusive.
*trys to think of ways to encourage the kids to get jobs and quit school*
What do you think, is the V6 that much better than a 172?
I believe it is, and if it wasnt for the fact that I have to cart the kids around, Id have one. How many V6s do you see in a week / vs the number of 172s. Do people stop and stare at a 172?
I think its a fantastic car, and Renault...
Magnex do the back box and cat-back system for the 1.2 16v - isnt yours the same? PCD on a Clio is 4 x 100. Not too sure about offset on a 1.2, but I bought ET37 for my 172 and everythings fine.
Welcome to the nuthouse BTW!
I didnt notice any change in mpg after I got mine. Maybe a small improvement in mid-range pull, or maybe it was my imagination. Here is a dyno graph for a 172 with a cat-back system (its from Magnex so maybe needs a pinch of salt)...
No I dont have this fitted. As Rhys says in the previous post, the standard setup is really good, particularly if you get some decent pads (I have Tar-ox). I can think of plenty of other things Id buy before I spent £800 on brakes for a 172.
No difference:
e.g. a ratio of 10 to 1 = 20 to 2
compression is compression, when expressed relative to the original volume of the cylinder (or whatever) its a compression ratio.
Seems to work very nicely on new tyres. My tyres are only a few weeks old and they shine really well. Tried it on the Megane, which has much older tyres and it didnt work nearly as well.
No, I work for a company that used to be owned by GM (EDS). Despite the fact that were independent now, we still get the discount scheme for some reason.
Thanks guys, Ill give it a go this afternoon. The instructions warn about not getting it onto the tread as its a lubricant :o
jon it was £1.99 at Morrisons.
Got some of this stuff in the supermarket yesterday - they were practically giving it away. It says to spray it onto the tyre, but will the overspray do the wheels any harm?

We can get about 20% off GM cars (Vauxhall, Saab etc), but its not the whole range - just the ones they want to shift. So at the moment you get nothing off a new Vectra for example, but loads off Astras as theyre about to be replaced. I think a lot of the schemes work like this.
Needless to...
Yup, 16"s will never give you a problem, only need to be careful with 17"s or bigger. If youre sticking with the oriiginal wheels youll probably find that the ride actually improves. The springs cost about £120, plus about £40 to fit them if you dont do it yourself, then about £30 to get the...
You could always do what I did on day 1.
Drive to Scotland, have a good meal, loads of beer, get up next morning and drive back. Bingo! Running-in complete!
Bear in mind that if they are lower they permit less travel - they simply have to be harder to prevent the suspension bottoming out. Also, the lower you go, the more your existing shocks will be stressed, and the sooner youll need to replace them.
