they're just sh1t quality systems. my old 320i had 154k on the clock, engine and original exhaust both untouched and sweet as a nut. my 172's rear silencer fell off after just over 3yrs. this is 'normal' apparently
Thanks for the reply Gav,
there's a metallic high pitch rattle/vibration that sounds like it's coming from the cat. today i could hear the system blowing. guy at the exhaust place near work says it's the rear joining between mid-section and rear silencer. just come a bit loose. he reckons the...
ideally you'd have the same tyre design with good tread depth all round.
I'd check your tread, pressures (33f 31r) and just go a bit easier into the corners, power out where grip's available.
Hope this helps
only a few months old, fitted it myself, slight rattle at first, now it sounds like an m3 when booted and on the overrun, but not in a good way.
Is there anything I can do to it?
Thanks for the replies chaps
I hear what you're saying, I swapped my silly aftermarket wheels and tyres (that came with the car) for OEM units before Xmas, at some expense. I have done 19k since September in the car so tyres on the front don't last long at all. I'm strapped for cash right now...
195/45/16. I need two of, where's the cheapest and most preferred poor man's tyre?
had wheelspin at 70mph in th rain the other day, don't want a repeat of that sh1t
I could sell you mine if you want. I've only used it once. Bought it to help change the brake pads. Wasn't any real help to be honest. Is good for trim removal I hear though
do a search mate. it's the fooking wires under the front seats; the connectors are crap. My passenger side connectors need replacing. I've replaced all the drivers' side connectors and the lights only come on every now and then if the passenger seat is moved for access to the rear seats...
I found the recycle button! Had the car 9 months and had never even noticed that button. To think my profession involves observation too!
I really doo rely on my CC to keep me cool; I'd be super aggressive if hot and stressed behind the wheel. However, as soon as I can I open the windows -...
I find it's a necessity. Only open my window to smoke a fag out of it these days. Nice to open the windows at night when it's cooler, but as soon as you get up to any speed it's noisy and blowy as fook.
Climate control is generally set to 16 or less around this time of year, and haven't seen...
I was scooting along down the m60 in the 40 restricted area yesterday and i could hear what sounded like a trickle or a rattle from beneath the rear seats. Had the aircon on full whack.
Pulled over, just in case a bit of trim was loose or I had a nail in my tyre, fearing the petrol pump was...
mine often doesn't like starting first time, when hot usually. I figured since it has done it for the last 6 months and nothing's fallen off, i wouldn't worry.
Always thought it was a silly french immobiliser. As soon as you try again in turns over as quickly as f**k.
there may be 3/10th of a second to 62mph, depends where you read.
The cup was about a grand cheaper when new. When I bought mine, there were a few cups going very cheap.
Cups are basic and a little lighter.
Full fats are proper all-rounders. When the Summer finally gets here, I know...
they're like children in this forum...
172 has auto xenons, auto wipers, climate control, leather and alacantara seats with rear head restraints, 4 airbags and ABS.
The cup doesn't have the above, runs on turinis and has slightly altered suspension so the track is wider, the toe in is...
