My car was in the garage for a little pampering this week - heres what I learned, just in case its of any help....
CLONK as you pull off, and sometimes when changing into second: Its the gearbox mounting under the battery. Just needs tightening.
External temperature sensor - if it goes...
I just cant find any aftermarket wheels that I prefer to the standard ones - well not any that justify spending £700 or more anyway. I did spot one design that I liked (Lenso RS5), but they dont make em in the correct fitment for the car.. :(
Strange. I spoke to Tesco about my Magnex, they asked me whether it gave any performance gains. I replied no of course, and now Ive got an insurance certificate which says that Ive got a non-standard exhaust. There was no increase in premium or excess.
This is a much bigger issue than many people realise. I used to have a jetski - 700cc, twin cylinder 2-stroke. 95bhp. It ran ok on normal unleaded, but as soon as the fuel got a bit old (couple of weeks) it would begin to give trouble (poor starting, didnt want to idle etc.) I asked about this...
Well yes Im sure some peoples requirements of a car would back that up. But if the Mk2 had been the same spec as the Cup I wouldnt have bought one - cant live without aircon and ABS - lots of motorway driving for work & I dont need to be too sweaty when I get where Im going.
I may have bought...
You can bet your boots theyll spend the first 12 months turning out as many DCi and 1.2 models as they possibly can - theyre by far the best sellers. I doubt therell be a new Renaultsport Clio for a while. They might even do the Megane thing - keep selling the low volume old models (Coupe &...
You dont have to push a button - most people just leave it on all the time - its climate control - you just tell it what temperature you want and let the machine get on with it.
I use this pic a lot - the silver car is standard - the red one is lowered 30mm. Not much difference really.
More pics of the red one here too: http://homepages.tesco.net/~mmikee/low/http://homepages.tesco.net/~mmikee/low/

All car CD players seem to read CDRs no problem. My autochanger has never seen a real CD! I make em with Adaptec CD Creator Deluxe and Nero - they all work. Never tried CDRW though.
I remember following Geoff around the circuit at Bedford when he had those 17"s. There was no discernable difference in performance between his car and mine with 16"s.
It needs a pretty good squirt. Its the oil that stops the dirt not the filter. Get it wet but not soaking. (I phoned PiperX about this when I got my panel filter).
25-30mm will be fine - about the same as the Eibachs - youll hardly notice the drop, though your handling will improve. Also leaves you plenty of room for 17" wheels if you ever want them. Did David say how much the labour would be?
Also, if you have lowering springs fitted youll need to get...
Sawa - I got all my springs replaced for £40 (labour). Any Kwik-fit type place will do your pads. The price of the spring itself is also crazy - a set of Eibachs is only about £120 and thats for all 4!. Find a local garage to do the work - youll save a fortune.
Yeah, in the era of the 5GTT I was in a compulsory company car scheme - Id have loved a 5GTT.
Boss: You can have any car you like Mike.
Mike: WooHoo!
Boss: Oh, as long as its a Vauxhall.
