Upgrading will always be a subjective and personal matter, I think people's approach to this mod is due to the price of 6 or 7k, which is about the same as the car costs...
Why not buy an E34 M5 for about 5k? Manufactured from 1989 to 1992, they produced 315bhp in standard 3535cc form. Cars...
okay, let me really throw the cat amongst the pigeons:
Why are non renault clio sport owners actually on this site (CLIO SPORT.NET, not CLIO PONY SPEC.NET) in the first place?
Said as I duck down and crawl to cover....
Ha ha, I love being popular :rasp:
Only kidding chums.
Surely it's dependant on the mapping. Some turbos are set to run on 95 RON, but they will probably produce more power if capable of recognising 98 RON.
The guys doing his £6-7k conversion will surely tell him what his car needs
the type r has the ability top end speed wise and it handles better. There's no question.
The only comfort I have is the spec levels on the 172 mk2 full fat; basic air con on the CTR was an optional extra costing a bag of sand! Never mind climate, leather etc...
our sports are mapped to use either 95 or above. My 172 mk2 runs very well and good on 95. I saw a controlled test on the gadget show or something like that, our level of perfomance car (think it was a current Golf GTi) resulted in approx 1 or 2 bhp increase from 98 RON, the difference was only...
no worries man,...
never attended a meet or a show, just like my cars and learning about the ones i currently have, hence my involvement here.
It's not a patch on bmwcarclubforum TBH though... Still good though.
i had a courtey megane with one of those silly (American RV style) handbrakes, load of rubbish, difficult to use, whereas your common handbrake lever is,.. well just a simple bloody lever!
Did chuckle to myself everytime I used it though, as I made a "tiiiisssshhhh" air brake noise.
Have you not seen the tiny, tiny bhp gains an engine such as a 172/182 on 98 RON acheives? The oil companies are robbing you blind unless you're running a high end motor; subaru, skyline etc...
Although, generally turbo cars do need a high RON don't they
172 - i'm still driving like i'm on my way to a retirement home and it's down to 42, hardly worth the effort; I can return 35 driving like I stole it!
Can anyone do the maths to work out how much fuel bills would be for an average 12k use per annum? for example 35mpg costs £---- 36mpg costs...
Feckin electrics: SERV and AIRBAG lights.... If I meet the guy who designed the airbag and seatbelt pre-tensioners system I'd need locking up afterwards.
Love the climate control, the speed of the thing and the grip though.
just drove 60+ miles to the trafford centre and back, just out of interest i drove like i was 50 years my senior. I returned 48mpg and an average speed of 48mph! That's almost diesel territory.
The title is a question my friend.
Just seemed my readings, onced i'd got a stopwatch, were around 6 and some people were saying it was close to 8 and slow... it is what it is, inaccurate bit of fun.
Furthermore, a legal bit of fun that others with nothing more than a steering wheel with a...
Downloaded a stopwatch on my smartphone and timed my second runs at 6.8 and 6.6. well happy with that
Re-timed my first runs, where I'd changed to third gear and my best was 6.6.
Okay, it's an indicated 60mph, but my car (full fat 172 mk2) is, other than a thru flow rear silencer, 100%...
