Surely it's dependant on the mapping. Some turbos are set to run on 95 RON, but they will probably produce more power if capable of recognising 98 RON. The guys doing his £6-7k conversion will surely tell him what his car needs

Have you not seen the tiny, tiny bhp gains an engine such as a 172/182 on 98 RON acheives? The oil companies are robbing you blind unless you're running a high end motor; subaru, skyline etc... Although, generally turbo cars do need a high RON don't they
