Tasteless mods? OK - you asked for it! heres my Fiat X1/9 from 13 years ago.
Spec:
Eurosport body kit
Compomotive wheels, BFG tyres (massive, dont know what size),
Colour coded engine cover
Sony component CD system (remember this was 1989 folks!)
4 - outlet ANSA exhaust (stuck out...
Oversteer does have its uses though, but I have to agree with aledw, you need to be on a track to experiment with it enough to work out whats going on. FWD cars habitually understeer, and this gets worse when the tyres get too hot. The facility to make the car oversteer using steering / throttle...
If you have a 172 just get an Eibach Pro spring kit. Lowers just the right amount, great improvement in handling and still good ride quality. Pound for pound its the best mod you can make on a 172.
I think personal preference has a big part to play here. Saying Tyre X is better than Tyre Y really just means I preferred tyre Y. I like the Contis. Ive done 13k now and Im going to fit my 3rd set of fronts soon.
Strongly recommend Easytrack http://www.easytrack.co.ukhttp://www.easytrack.co.uk 3 of us did a day with them at Donington Park in the Autumn - superb day. Personally I never bother with insurance but you can get various levels of cover starting at about £50.
Easy - start a thread entitled 172 Cup vs Mk2 172 and reply to every post. Youll be at 10,000 in about an hour. Throw in a few tantalising questions about Renault Approved mods for the CUP and you might even make it 20,000
I think the demister should blast the windows regardless of the inside / outside temperatures. The outside temperature sensor will be a simple problem - dodgy sensor or connection. Dealer should be able to sort both of these out no problem. Knocks, squeaks rattles etc are a sod for dealers to...
You could have tried a bit harder with that story and devised a role for the cow. Anyhow, the Pug is a 2.0 with 136 (or thereabouts) bhp. A 172 will have it for breakfast on the motorway. I dont know what the deal is with 206 GTI owners - never seen one at a trackday for some reason. Cant say...
Your car doesnt have a torsion bar if its a 2000 model - its springs all round. 35/40 sounds a bit less than usual but I shouldnt think youll have any trouble with rubbing. To find out more have a look at the excellent lowering guide on the home page.
Yep, agreed Rob. You can learn it best of all at a Motorsports Academy day. http://www.motorsport-events.comhttp://www.motorsport-events.com Youll learn to push your car harder than youd ever have believed possible.

.... and dont worry about the performance degradation. Theoretically there has to be an effect but youll never notice it on the road. On the track youll appreciate the extra grip - my car still has the original 16s on it and I have no speed advantage over cars with 17s on the track. Just make...

I have driven that car at Palmersport - as have many others on here. Its absolutely wonderful. Goes like stink, handles brilliantly. Dont know about the figures, but it certainly shifts - the sequential gearbox with full-throttle change makes a huge difference.
If you ever get a chance to...

Sympathies Fred m8 - glad youre still in good spirits though, these things are really disturbing. Main thing is to forget the material stuff and not let it get you down, although thats easier said than done.
Then again you could always track the ba5tard down and pan his head in :devilish:
