They should strip of any waxes/sealants of anyway but avoid thinks like Autoglym Super Resin as they can be a painters nightmare! I would just wash it in the meantime if they are coming soon.
Loads of post about it so worth doing a quick search chap.

With car covers you get what you pay for, decent ones are in the 100-200 quid range though.

Not used any of the Dodo's the finishes do look good in pics, but can't comment myself.
I tend to do, one side of the car and remove, then so on with the other, then the bonnet and tailgate and then the roof.
Another vote for the Sonus Der Wunders for Wax removal.
Dodo will have to go some to get close to Collinites durability. Either could be applied over the P21s if you don't fancy polishing and/or sealing again first.
I would try some Clay, Meguiars All Purpose cleaner or Autoglym Engine and Machine cleaner on the stubborn areas before you think about anything acid based.
P21s for me looks slightly better.
P21s is so easy on and off, the Collinites don't wipe off quite as easily.
Once a month is ideal for the P21s, once every 6 months is fine for the 3 layers of EGP.

Looks wise you will struggle to see the individual differences in Carnuba's on Silver. The Collinite will out last the P21s, but is not as easy to use.
Shampoo wise look into Duragloss Wash,
After washing see if the paint feels rough or smooth - especially the roof and bonnet as these are the areas that pick up most of the bonded on contamination. You should be able to feel it with your hands, put using your hand in a clean sandwich type plastic bag will make it easier. If so it is...
What ever you use over the VM you will not get huge amounts of durability due to the oilyness off it. Sealants are a no no on it tbh - but I did get ok results using EX-p over it then a carnuba. Any Carnuba will work on it - I would initally use a proper carnuba and then use the Optimum after...
Sometimes (more often than not) even a wet sand and machine polish will notsort them, purchased a 309 GTi which had the same damage a few years ago and they would not polish out.
Super Resin is a Polish (which also cleans and leaves some protection)
Extra Gloss is a Sealant
Using the EGP over the SRP will seal the shine it leaves and give a durable protective layer good for 1-3 plus months in some case
