I bought exactly the same car about 6 weeks ago Matt! an 03 flame red 172. Absolutely love it. Need to clean it up then post some pics on here!! Mines standard at the mo apart from it's lowered 25mm @ front and 15mm at the back, and the non-standard wheels which came with it! fitting a BMC CDA...
when I'm at the traffic lights in neutral, my engine seems to cause the car to shake, sort of like it's about to stall. The revs stay at around 750-1000 rpm when I'm in neutral, I was just wondering if anyone knows what it is and how to sort it??
Just looked on motorworld website. I've found this

Do you know which diameter I will need for the CDA? I guess it's about 80mm?
cheers bud. I will try halfrauds! haha! How do you keep the pipe in place down by the grill, or does it stay in position on it's own as it's a tight squeeze?
Hey,
I bought a BMC CDA a couple of weeks ago, but it didn't fit with standard inlet. Received the hillpower inlet today though, so need to cut that down to size and all should be good. I'm just wondering where to get a cool air pipe to attach to the open end of the CDA? and where to locate. I...
Hi, I bought a mk2 ph2 172 a couple of months back but want to improve it's bhp to 190-200 bhp. I've got a BMC CDA (not yet fitted, awaiting hillpower inlet) but wanted to know what other mods I will need and it's cost? Will the BMC CDA, a 182 manifold, sports cat, k-tec stealth exhaust then...
Yeah Renault are a lot better than some other french cars, especially now anyway. Safety is on the up. I heard that citeron VTRs and VTS' are really poor when in a crash!!
Did I say just Renaults or did I say French cars? It was a generalisation, and an opinion of which the majority hold. I've had 3 french cars, and the build quality in comparison to some other cars is pretty poor. Obviously the build quality effects the safety of the driver, therefore it wasn't a...
Man that's sh!t. Someone stole my next door neighbours Range Rover off the drive the other night. They walked into their house, robbed their keys along with 600 quid in cash (not sure why they had £600 lying about) and drove off.
saw a blue VX220 the other day and loved it. Never liked them...
Aye they are awesome. Attract negative attention from scummy chavs though!! So if I did get one, it wouldn't suprise me if it got stolen and smashed up
Thats not bad! I have 0 years no claims as I've been on my dads policy since I started driving. You getting the 182 then or just considering it? I wish I got a 182 with both cup packs. I wanted the twin exhausts and cruise control, but didn't have enough money to get one of those and insurance
I managed to get insured on my mk2 ph2 172 for £1800 fully comp which sounds a lot (well it is a lot) but I'm only 19 with no NCB. Insurance premiums are on the way up anyway apparently, and they are phasing out third party fire and theft! It's horrible when you see people wrapping themselves...
Yeah the build quality of French cars are pretty tosh. I will try taping the hole under the wing mirror, cheers Warren. It wont look too stylish, but I can't stand it whistling anymore!!
I've had my mk 172 for a couple of months now, and ever since I've had it, it seems to make a really loud whislting noise when I do over about 60 mph. I assume it's the wind coming through the seal on the wind-screen. It's doing my nuts in cos I use the motorway all the time. Does anyone know...
Did anyone see this on the news tonight? Did hear what they were saying cos I was in the gym and the sound was off but looked like a young lad wrapped a clio 172 cup around a tree and killed himself!!

I love the monaro, they sound beasty....well they are beasty. are they 5.7 litre or something mad? Off the subject but saw something in nuts about the renault twingo thats coming out soon, sounds like it will be fairly nippy
Thats exactly what I said! I personally think he's talking cr*p. He has done a few mods like supercharger upgrade, exhaust, air filter etc and reckons it's upto 230bhp. But I still don't think it would manage that. But he did say 3rd and 4th gear are pretty useless, so maybe 2nd in a cooper s is...
I've got a BMC CDA, went to fit it but I'm gonna need a hill power bend and a decent cold air feed. Does anyone know what size hill power bend I will need and where to get it?? Also what size cold air feed? Cheers
Hey,
I recently bought a BMC CDA for my ph2 mk2 172. I've heard a lot of stuff about the silicone pipe (hill power bend) and do you NEED one? Or do you just get more out of the cda if you have one? I'm going to have a go at fitting the cda tonight, hoping it's fairly easy!!
