I would love a P1. But like Kris said, they are rare, but to find one that is in very good condition is ridiculously rare, and plus they are expensive. If I was you I would try and save another couple of grand and get a 172 cup. Then look into performance mods like decat, carbon induction kit...

I have a flame red 172, it looks the nuts when its been cleaned, and looks quality at night. Monaco blue is pretty nice as well. There are too many black and silver cars about now. The 182 looks cool in inferno orange and liquid yellow. Attracts unwanted attention though as some people on here...
I think it looks pretty good, especially compared to the normal cooper s!! You could get more for your money though considering they are about 22/23 grand, and probably about 18 grand for a second hand one!

Would anyone be able to tell what bhp gains I could expect with an ECU remap taking into account I will have BMC CDA, sports cat and stealth exhaust? I know remaps aren't really that great in terms of gains for non-turbo cars, but it's worth finding out about.

It's the standard SRi. It's an 02 plate. If it was a VXR I know I wouldn't stand a chance as they are like 240bhp. I think his is 190bhp standard. He's not had it remapped!!
Just wondering who you think would win in a quarter mile race. My mate has an astra SRi turbo, pretty standard bar the blue flame exhaust, and I've got a 172, also standard bar a BMC CDA!
Well it's been lowered 25mm at the front, but theres still about 3-4 inches clearance I reckon! The splitter would make it about a inch and half lower!! So what do you think? I would cringe if it scrapped on a speed bump!!!

You were probably still in 3rd gear :). I have a 172, and always tell myself before I get in it that I'm going to drive sensibly...it's so hard no to put your foot down!!
when I'm at the traffic lights in neutral, my engine seems to cause the car to shake, sort of like it's about to stall. The revs stay at around 750-1000 rpm when I'm in neutral, I was just wondering if anyone knows what it is and how to sort it??
