I was under the impression the MF ones just go stiffer, since mine aren't set at the stiffest setting but are still pretty stiff I fail to see the need unless you're racing it.

You need to take it to a decent garage, tell them to change the aux kit, while doing it they should check over the rest of the pulleys to see if anything else is causing the noise and replace anything that is. It'll cost you now, but will save you in the long run, speaking from experience!
