a well serviced, mint running car, with a decent suspension and brake setup, driven properly (really properly!) will keep up with (dare i say it!) a ITB car driven by an amateur!

ooh i forgot to reply to your text, the rough surface is due to them using a harsh media to blast them (ie sand) prime them first and see how it is, if still rough use a filler primer
