In the bottom pic, slide a small flat blade into the bit just to the right of that cable tie.

I'd suggest that first things first, you need to find yourself a specialist mechanic on here that's local-ish to you. £395 to supply and fit an alternator is robbery.

Take the wiper arms off, remove the black plastic trims that sit on there (scuttle panel) and you will see the washer bottle. Look underneath that for leaves/dirt/crap and you'll see drain holes bunged up.

How would these hold up in a crash? Scrimping on seats and harnesses seems mental to me.

Map sensors are quite common to fail on them.
