As above, when you get tired of your clio what do you want next?
Think if i ever run out of interest in my clio id only want one of 3 cars;
Mk1 Clio V6,
80s Porsche Turbo,
Renault 5 Turbo (pref Turbo 2)
Whats everyone elses ideas though?
Looking good m8 - will be good to have all the info in one place! :D
Willy has one-off driveshafts tho and front shocks are R19 spec (possibly with different damping rates), ARB from R19 (possibly uprated but unlikely), subframe also double-skinned too
Its true that increasing the power will move it further up the rev range but the same goes for any car - throw a new cam into the GTT and youll have a similar problem. However, i think doing it to a valver isnt as bad as everyone makes out - sure power will come later but itll still be far more...
Dunno if this is true but it may help...
I think the 1.7 unit formed the basis for the 1.8 RSI lump present in mk1 clios so driveshafts/mounts from one of those may fit.
Are the guy who was building that TBd engine for racing with a while back? Effectively williams grp A/maxi spec or something as i remember.....awesome pics if i recall....
^^as above - your 172 will prob have decent stuff in already so a little dilution wont hurt! Could also get a small bottle from renault....cheap enough (sub £10 i think)
I think itd be ok as theyre just 7" wide and with correct offset dont come too close to the outer rear arch. However, ive never seen a valver thats down that far in real life before so cant be sure. You could try PM fatherted as you might be near him - he may be able to help/meet you to give you...
those where 16s and it was lowered 35mm on the front at the time. Think theyre one of the few aftermarket wheels that suit the valver (IMO) and i only sold them because i prefered the phase 1s i have. Beware though, the spokes do come out quite far for curbs etc! :D
website should be...
Godwin, i thought quality was excellent, if i remember correctly, the wheels are actually made by Image. Im afraid i dont have these wheels anymore (sold them to Fatherted) and only have these two (dirty) pics...

A lot of people slate Prima but i ordered the above alloys in 16" (more Maxi style) and got them on very the day they told me - no problems at all. I was missing one of the centre caps but they sent that out the next day to me and were fairly helpful on the phone.
This might give you some...
Not got any pics of it on mine but its identical to this one (adis?);

Engine doesnt get that warm any more - i fitted a low temp fan switch at the weekend too and now the water temp doesnt go above the first mark anymore.
I used to...
Always got my doubts about the gauges but yours sound a bit ropey!
The oil level should only be working with the ignition on but engine off (as said) - if yours is displaying with hte engine running it sounds like something is wrong (prob a sensor somewhere but i dont know which).
The oil...
Right, got various things fixed this weekend but also a Hillpower IK and heatshield fitted (cheers to david16v) so thought id go out for a blast...
Anyway, the car still feels quick but can anyone comment on whether thered be any power loss compared to the std airbox?
Doesnt seem to be any...
Willy (JC5) box is the stronger but 5th gear has a higher ratio. Given that the 16v doesnt have as much torque as a willy this MIGHT mean that once you hit 5th your acceleration will be very poor (in comparision to a std 16v).
All depends really - if your going for more power (i.e seriously...
I wouldnt put too much faith in what the rr guy said about the idling. Hillpower told me that when theyve fitted 285s they always got idle issues so only use 270s now. Given this, the lumpy idle is probably just an annoying side affect of the cam duration in the 1.8 rather than them actually...
Lucky mate, lucky!
Thought something similar was going to happen to me last weekend - was tearing over some country round when all of a sudden i meet an escort cosworth in the middle of the road! Think the boy sh*t himself cos i literally missed him by mms.....that wouldve been expensive i think!
