Is there a difference in length of phase 1 and phase 2 172 drive shafts?

Mate I've got 10+ sets of driveshafts down my garage, the reason I can't sell any of them is because it seems each pair is different. It's a complete minefield! My mk1 has ph1 items in it. I appreciate that doesn't help though.

    Stolen Car - Edinburgh

Whatever electronic system they come up with, someone will come up with something that can beat it. If you're going to own a car like this, then a disc lock, drop bollards, chains... ANYTHING that makes a noise is the only chance you have. Immobilisers etc are pointless on cars like this...

    ***How much is it worth?***

My mate just bought a FF alien green with recaros for £8495 at a dealer. 2011 plate with 59k. Will give you a rough idea.

Vac your mats. Spray liberally with interior cleaner (cheap halfords upholstery aerosols work well for this) Scrub with stiff brush. (A bit bigger than a nail brush) Vac again. Spray a light mist of cleaner again. Stripe your carpets whichever way suits. Leave in sun to dry. Bosh.

    Ph1 172 for 5k

Yeah it is. It's got s**t wheels on it, it's over due belts, no mot etc but it has the basis of a really nice car. Some cars are just dogs and only vast amounts of money can cure it but the this looks half about. Nice interior and steering wheel etc. Shame it's 3.5 hours away or I'd go and...

    RENAULT DCI

Most Renault DCi's have died so I'd imagine the forum has withered a little! There are some VERY knowledgeable people on here though. Graham S and Alex W have helped me no end.

    Poly/Plastic Windows

There is nothing in/on my door. Door cars off, mechanism and wiring out, all metal cut out, poly carb riveted on. Door weighs about the same as a can of coke! Lol

    No. Who said they have??

    Poly/Plastic Windows

I've got them on mine, massive weight saving. The only thing I will say, they scratch very very easily. So every time you clean them you're damaging them.

    Anyone know this 197?

My mate is in the market for a 197. He wants recaros, would prefer black and it will do 2/3 track days a year. This seems to fit the bill. Anyone know it? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201504132562747?atmobcid=soc4

    Tips for changing engine mounts.

Lump of wood and a trolley jack to lift the engine a bit. (On the sump) Make sure you un-clip the fuel lines (by the top mount) to avoid snapping any clips. Other than that, normal tool kit. Gearbox mount is fiddly but nothing more. Dogbone mount is a piece of cake.

My Orion was base coat only and after some GTecniq P1, some SRP, some hydro 2 and a good coat of illusion, it looked brand new for about a year!

Type of paint on a 1962 Rover P5

DA will be fine mate. Just use something like SRP or triple first to clean it up then work from there upwards. I wouldn't use cutting compound or anything like that though. You never know what's been painted and by who!

Type of paint on a 1962 Rover P5

It will probably be base coat only so for a start I wouldn't use a rotary. At least not unless you've got massive testicles.

What is your next car & why?

That is a piss poor excuse. Unless of course you're planning on completing on a new house purchase in the next three months? No? Oh. So you could buy an RS3. If prices stay dormant, you're onto a winner. If they go up, double bubble.

I just love them. Now I work with Porsche/BMW's all day I have no desire to own anything expensive what so ever! Give me cheap fun hatchbacks any day of the week.

No. I've never said that. :S Nimbus 197, xenons and climate control. H&R springs, spacers, tail pipe trims, Boom!

What is your next car & why?

I really like them. The driving position is better than a 182, the seats and steering wheel are much nicer, and out if the box they're better on track IMO. It's a long way off yet, but it needs to be done.
