What improvements did the 197 inlet make and also what was needed to make it fit?

Ive had a VTS and GTi, a Phase 1 and at current a 182. In my honest opinion, the Phase 1 172 was the best car by miles. It does everything the VTS/GTi does except better, and for the same running costs.

Its entirley true though, regulations have changed and as you know vehicle safety is at an all time (depressing) high. They get heavier all the time, gone are the days of feeling a sense of danger on every road trip lol

Could not agree more having owned a GTi/VTS and a 172/182, its ashame really.

The 197/200 mpg figures are not worth a f**k. The standard F4R is very much FTMFW.

Welcome along Mike, following the service schedule will see the DCi last for as long as you wish, they really are superb wee cars if maintained! Regular oil changes will see the engine last!

The compression in the dampers is different to each aswell IIRC. Try and source 172 Cup original suspension and save yourself any hassle!
