Mechanically standard RS Clio?

Me, and for good reason!

They're superb out of the box, doesnt stop me from wondering what it would be like to own/live with a Super/Turbo Charged F4R, right enough.

Mine does have the original make and model tyres, yes. And proper OEM Renault Dics and Pads, spark plugs and has only ever run Elf its entire life.

Doesn't even have the uprated Dogbone engine mount, when it needs doing I'll replace it with a OEM Renault part.

Can I ask why you go to this cost and effort ??? Many (not all!) pattern parts adequately do the job at a fraction of the price. I am not sure why you would go out of your way to fit oem only.

Me, nothing at all changed to non-standard on mine, not even a panel filter!!
Still on original exhaust!! *touches wood*

2nd hand value and piece of mind, it isn't that much more expensive if you shop around and use eBay.

It seems like people on ClioSport.net have a skewed view on standard.

So many people on here: "Muhhh mine's standard. Except for the parts that aren't".

In my defence, I was merely trying to say that a 6 year old car with only an rear exhaust section that isn't oem - that's pretty good going. But please accept my sincerest apologies for not conforming to your intelligence levels.

It's good to make new friends. Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat

It's good, but not quite what we were looking for.

Ok cool,

take an exhaust for example - my standard system died (not sure if OE or not) so i got a 2nd hand milltek which cost me £150 and will last the life of the clio (in theory)

springs - i had a snapped one , RUK wanted close to £100 for one therefore i replaced with Eibach sportlines for a little bit more £140

despite not wanting to modify - both cases have saved me money in the long run as i have replaced with good quality aftermarket parts which can be fit and forget (hopefully!)

While you may have saved yourself some money in the short term, those things reduce the value of your car when you sell it. Unless you find an 'enthusiast' who was going to do those things any way. The general public couldn't give a flying f**k about mods and consider a car that is modded a no-no.

I wasn't 'trying' anything. I just cannot understand why you guys would find it acceptable to be so rude - over nothing.

Well what the hell were you doing then? Goodj started this thread to ask if anyone had kept their RS Clio mechanically standard. You haven't, yet you come in here saying you have. I don't understand.

I would suggest that the rear section of a 182 exhaust is also just for show.

Sure is.

But that was Renaults' call.

While we're at it, why build a diffuser for the 197, harp on about he benefits over spoilers, then ruin it with exhaust trims?

Because other hot hatches were getting them and Renault has to copy otherwise chavs with too much money won't buy them.

CS is getting very touchy these days :(

Try not to touch a nerve folks!

knew there couldn't be many left.

Not all bad though, means that genuine, standard cars will become even rarer, hell, one day they may even stop losing value hand over fist

Your car sounds like my perfect 172, in the best colour too!

I don't really buy that with regards to 1*2's.

For a start especially with 172's (and getting there quickly with 182's) the price of them has come down so much to the point where the extra cost of buying OEM parts will not be made back when you come to sell as a standard example. They just aren't worth enough any more :(.

Also if modified correctly with a standard ish sounding/looking exhaust, powerflex dogbone mount and say Prolines etc then no one in the general public would know its not standard particularly.

Certain things such as the Powerflex dogbone are a massive improvement that would make any potential buyer think that it's a good example because it makes the gearbox feel 10x nicer.

My 182 currently has the PE2s it came with from the factory on the front lol, must be the only one surely?
