yoz's was a rod bolt failure, but it did rev to 8K for 60K miles!
i reckon someone needs to do a power run with and without the vvt connected, it does sound different with it disconnected
blokey who looks after the r-sport engines has never had a problem with the pistons mate, he has had rod bolts let go though

do you have the engine and dash loom, ecu, uch, decoder ring, keys etc from the donor engine?
why do you need different heat grade plugs when mapping an engine? if its mapped bollock on then there will be no heat difference over stock IMO
stociometric in a standard engine Vs stociometric in a wild race engine is the same thing
you must be mapping to run lean if the temps are creeping...
