    i'd put the 172 dash loom in with the UCH, clocks, decoder ring etc, then cut and shut the rear end of the car loom to run the tail lights etc

    the gears aren't the weak point, they're the strongest part of the box! the weak point's are the synchros, selector forks, bearings and casing

    plus the mk2 is better built, you can see where they've stuck the V6 pannels onto the original pannels on a mk1 still a great car, just not as developed as the mk2 (tyres are cheaper on the mk1, thats about it!)
