cambelt kit £150
aux belt £20
remap £300
cams anywhere from £200 to £750
plus its a big job (over 10hours)
so its approaching the £2K mark depending on what cams you use
as the owner says, WHO CARES! he just wants his car in working order
its been messed with by someone, you'll never know who, all the finger pointing solves nothing, the end
maybe it was a duffly manufactured board in the first place, there's 1000 possibles!
but ecus on regualr car are water tight, and so is the loom and connectors, omex and omex's connectors aren't, but thats one of the reasons why its an afforable unit, not ideal, but i haven't got £3K+ for a motec
well its one of the jobs i'm doing to our car over the winter, moving the ecu to the glovebox, its an expensive piece of kit to have in the unfriendly environment that is the engine bay
because the explanation i give above won't happen, basically what i'm saying is the gas from each clyinder work together, ie one pulls the other one along (well thats what i understand the theory to be anyway)
i supposed you could also look at the exhaust system on a car as an instrument, say...
as i explained above, 182's seem to suffer a huge power loss if there is a leak from the exhaust manifold or cat joints
the stuff i've written above would explain it because the gas is escaping through the leaks upsets the "continuous gas flow"
skini i'm just about to leave for work now (been...
it will always gain you power IMO its not possible to loose power from a decat (well i've never ever seen it!)
a cat restricts the flow
try going to the loo with your undercrackers still on, there's a restriction so the performance isn't as good ;)
there is a reason behind it, clios like free flowing exhausts with minimal back pressure
if i'm right its got something to do with the pulses generated inside the engine, on serious machinery the exhaust length is pulse tuned.
4 clyinder engine - each cylinder isn't continuosly expelling...
doesn't seem a great deal quicker than the 360 shift (it is but not by much!)
can you hear the rear wheels chirping on down changing? the enzo does it too and the 360
manual box i say!
