Been painting calipers for years with hammerite smooth without any problems. If the painting did cause a caliper problem whatever paint used renault would try and get out of paying anyway I bet! As long at you have painted over the bleed nipples or anything silly you will be fine.

Think you need the shorter boot gas struts to avoid it hitting the roof as well. The trophy boot does not open as high to compensate.
