Open the door and it slides backwards about half an inch and will fall off. Same with the back ones (but iirc, they slide forwards) Mk2 1998-2006 are all the same fitment.

It may have been in a bump and the airbag/s have gone off. You need to solder those wires first just to guarantee they're not at fault. If the lights still there, take the airbag ECU out and send it here...
