    I wouldnt say there absolutley solid, just general wear and tear and even though my 172 is 7 years old i have only had to change the parts that are suceptibal to breaking, i.e bearings,coil springs,etc etc You will here alot on here about people re-placing or fixing suspension but the truths...

    Exactly, hot hatch ownership is resonably expensive but i would let £70 put me off for pound for pound performance, Road tax is only a drop in the ocean of car ownership

    Bought mine for £3750 5 months ago, one owner from new with FSH and 44k on the clock, very minor stone chips as expected. Should get a good one for 3k although your about to get the usual "spend a bit more and buy" a cup etc etc, zzzzzzzz...!

    Yes! But it should be far more economical than 30mpg when hes not ragging it. I had a Saxo VTS before the 172 and it would see 34mpg at very worst.
