they have different inlet cams, different inlent manifolds and plenhams, thats about the only engine differences
the mk1 gearbox is out of a tractor, really noisy compared to the mk2
the gearboxes are generally rubbish and so are the clutches

brakes + suspension first
you can go for just lowering springs (£137) or upto full blow coilovers (from £755)
its bang on the limit for noise, chris' one has an extra silencer believe it or not!!

we do a road version that is cut up into the bumper
i don't think anyone does a camshaft for the D7F, mine was upto an apparent 86bhp, mainly due to high milage
don't know what you mean about them easting clutches??? my original clutch did 92K before dying, and i use the car on track too

main difference is the exhaust manifold and cat, the inlet manifold is the same but the casting is better on the 182
