What about a Corsa/Nova TD then 100hp if you get a hammer and a few bits out to the engine and there loads of suspension etc bit so you can do a lot on them plus there litle electrics so any garage can fix them.
Next meet is 5th Feb and i don't think you've got the idea of what its about.

See you there.
To check the driveshafts have a llo at the rubber gaiters for any cracks (sometimes difficult to do with them in place). Then grap hold at one end and see if there any play in it at either end.
I'd get a diesel the Clio dci is 18k servicing. Brake pads £17 vs 40 for 172. Tyres are the cheap size 195/50/15. Road fund is £85. 55mpg if you drive hard 80 mpg if you take care.
There nowhere near a 172 performace wise but there cheap coilover one and its quite competant.
Mine loosened up a load with milage doesn't seem to be getting much quicker that it was at 30k or so. There was a marked inprovment upto that milage though.
Halfords sell the standoard ones for £17 or so or cheaper ones for £15.
I've never had any trouble with the £17 ever.
They last a fair amount of time how much milage are you getting out of them?
Could just be your tyres in this weather. Also check your mounts and driveshafts for any play/knocking mine have been doing this.
Mine went in 53k in the dci it was only lowered for a few month maybe 8k.
Nope no problem you won't need spacers there wiser than the stock wheels.
A few people have them on 172's don't know of any Cup owners.
There not that good for cooling the brakes though I'd stick with the Cup wheels.
More wieght saving idea
Sticker instead of numberplate.
Take lock out of drivers side.
Knowing what your like give it a good clean
Bump stripes remove.
Sunroof removal.
Remove aerial. (You've probable no stereo so why an aerial).
Lightweight battery.
Take out all those white plastic bits...
Rust the biggest killer check the arches and under the car. Also check round the rear wiper blade.
The jacking points should be in good condittion but I'm picky but it would IMo give you an idea of its its possibly been crashed (as they bend when people crash them) and how much care they take...

I've posted how to do this.
I'm a hybrid owner.
1 petrol
1 dci
1 with an interier
1 without
1 with a turbo
1 without
1's broken
The other just tired.
Better question is how many have you owned as a %. Plus how many still exist.
I have the same problem as you. You have to get a spanner on them to tigthen them up use the ones you use for water pipes for dishwahers etc to tighten it.
There no fan belt there 2 belts the one cambelt which i wouldn't attempte to do DIY as you need special tools to do it properly (You can bodge them but its not worth it IMO).
The other belt is the AUX belt the one power the PAS air con etc.
This is the one which needs doing ever 36k/5yrs its...
