Mike, 4 sticks of RAM often dont agree with Overclocked Quads, it puts too much strain on the NB. I had the same problem when I stuck 2 more sticks of RAM in, but i tested each individual slot and stick with memtest separately and they were all fine. What I ended up doing was selling my crucial...
I went for a braided one, with guaranteed HDMI 1.3 compatibility, it was £17.99 delivered and delivers a perfect picture from my xbox across the other side of the room. You must have bought a really s**t one, but i researched quite a lot and was pretty sure this one would be fine, which it was...
Almost but not quite, you can still get degradation of signal, just not in the same way as analogue. Rule of thumb is anything upto about 7-10m a <£10 cable will be fine, between 10-20 you want to be spending <£20-30. I just bought a 10m HDMI off ebay for £17.99 delivered and it is spot on...
To view HD you need to have a HD input, otherwise it will always be pixelated. It it is still pixelated with the PS3 then there is definitely something wrong, should be crisp as anything!
Lol yes its a router you need, these are common in most households nowadays. A wireless router might be beneficial if you bought a wireless router (Usually around £40-50) which will have 4 LAN ports and a wireless access point so you can connect your something wireless in the future (laptop...
Hmm, I didn't know that!
Question - with a 360 can you have HDMI lead producing the picture and the component cable plugged into an amp for sound? (Obv the white and red phonos) Or with HDMI does the sound have to be through the HDMI?
What format? The usual format for HD content on PCs is mkv which microsft wont offer support for. Anyone who uses news groups etc will know that this format has the best quality:size ratio and virtually everything is encoded in it afaik.
I have just bought a 10m HDMI v1.3 cable with a DVI > HDMI converter for my graphics card. This lets me use my tv as a monitor (as david said) and will easily do 1080p input for my tv, its fantastic and cost pennies to do!
10m HDMI cable - £17.99
DVI- HDMI converter - £4.99
All you need is a...
True, but mine is using 3581 which is enough for me, but I can understand what people are saying, they have paid for 4GB so want to be able to use 4gb!
Firstly, no need to be a c**k.
Everyone is allowed their opinion. I haven't said that the 8800GT is the be all and end all I just simply stated my views that I didn't think it warranted the extra £100. To some it might be, to me it isn't seeing as the 8800GT plays everything I myself want it...
What spec Mike?
My Spec for this test was q6600 @ 425x8, 2gb 1066 5-5-5-15 (standard speeds in brackets)
Read: 8697 (6959)
Write: 7707 (4852)
Copy: 6929 (4971)
Latency: 58.8ns (71.5)
Needless to say I have seen a very noticeable performance increase since over clocking!
Agreed!
Michael - Firstly do the RAM benchmarks in Everest then post scores up here and I'll show you how they can differ with FSB changes. Then try copying my speeds of 425x8 and see if you can get it stable.
I still state my claim that FSB is more important than clock speed, and in Michaels case he would be better off dropping his multiplier and upping FSB, but everyone seems to have ignored that :D
Thanks for your knowledgeable view DrEnzo, I think I am still going to go with the LCD because of the value for money here, even if I do suffer a bit of a lack of image quality compared with a plasma.
I could probably use your advice on my lounge set up tbh :)
If I were you Michael I would drop your multiplier to 8x and up your FSB to around 400-430 FSB if you are going for those sort of CPU speeds. Your FSBs of 355 and 378 have seen a good gain, but not as good as they could be. I have mine at 425x8 (3.4ghz) and it runs sweet as a nut.
Remember, FSB...
