The B14’s will stay for a while as it will be used on the road occasionally and I do like their compliance, although that’s probably changed now it’s Polybushed.
Future Plans:
Full cage
Once I’ve got a tow car/trailer
Coilovers will be replaced with a proper setup.
Remove rear beam refresh...
And that brings it up to date. Yesterday I’ve removed the dash to trim back the body loom of unneeded plugs. I have also bought an EPAS setup and cup alternator setup and full strip out has begun. I plan to get a full cage fitted even if I only do track days, hate being on track without a cage.
As it was all out I also Polybushed the subframe, black series bushes in the lower arms and purple series rest. I’ve also renewed the engine mounts with added powerflex insert for now although in time I’m sure these will be replaced too. Also taken the opportunity to upgrade to a 182 manifold...
At the beginning of March I took the engine out the old girl to do the belt, fit a clutch and generally tidy up the bay and engine loom as it had been out before and not refitted properly. At this time I decided as it was going to be going on track this year to strip the engine too to check the...
So fast forward 3 months no longer needed as a daily things are going to get interesting. In the time I’d been using it daily I’d fitted a sparco seat on extra low frame and fitted a ktec bolt in cage.
Hi, so I thought I’d document my journey with my 172 into track car/possibly race car. A little bit of background about me this is actually my 4th 172 and 7th clio having had 2x 172 cups 2x172 1x 182 and 2x 1.2’s.
Day job I’m a technician for Porsche which is fun to say the least.
So back in...
Now I’ve got it back together I’m now thinking that I should’ve done an EPAS conversion at the same time. Is it hard to do? I’ve not done any research into it
Will be 6 point again this time round. If there’s no easy way to do it I’ll just wait until I get a proper cage later in the year, then I’ll be able to screw the eyelet in easily
Hi guys, just looking for some advice, so I’ve got the caged/msv bolt in cage in my car (safety devices cage will happen later in year).
I’m just wondering if anyone has got any ideas on how to fit a lap belt of a harness (the one to the outside of the car sat in a seat) while having this cage...
Cool sounds great, thanks for your help everyone.
I’ll definitely get my inlets sent off to get matched (after all this corona stuff is over!) as that seems it could be great gain for not much outlay. This forum really is the best with all the advice!
thank you!!
would you want to hire it out at all?
I’ve got the RS lower inlet manifold going on, 182 exhaust manifold and with the 197 injectors a map and timing it should be Just right.
ive polybushed the whole car (in process of) and I’ve got Brembo hc discs and ferodo DS2500 pads as that’s what I had...
My plan is to now get it running with standard injectors once it’s plumbed back in, make sure it’s not leaking oil etc. Once I’m happy it’s good I’ll then fit the 197 injectors then get it trailered up to EFI. I don’t suppose you’d want to hire out your group N tool? They seem rare as hens teeth!
I’ll get it running again with standard injectors run it up make sure it doesn’t piss oil everywhere then swap to 197 injectors and get it trailered to EFI. Sounds like a plan 👌🏻 Just need a group n tool now
Rebuild in progress but still got a couple of questions.
Has anyone got a group N timing tool I could borrow/hire?
With group n timing,197 injectors/182 manifold will it be safe to drive to get a map as I imagine AFR’s will be all over the place. EFI is a good 3 hours away, engine dynamics are...
