When I was Rallying, we almost had a spare car in the Transit, apart from an engine. Different though, we were given time to the work.
We just carry a few bits and pieces, things that might go wrong, and replace stuff in between races hoping that they don't go wrong.

My mate has a 1.2 8v, it's terrible, we cleaned it out as much as we could, covered the rad with cardboard, and thrashed it about for a couple of days, nearly all gone now.
So they al do it.
Step away from the Jack!!. If you cannot work out or see where to jack it up, I would be very worried. Not saying you have to be a top mechanic to do this, but if you are able bodied, and have full sight, you should be able to work it out.

Chippy. I can bring the set of discs down I've just taken off the race car, take 10mins to change them, save have a wobbly wheel.
