Here it is now. The panels I haven't had painted have a couple of years of outside filth on them, so not sure what it'll all look like when it's had a deep cut.
If you look to the first post in the thread on page 1, you can see what it looked like before.
I've turned the boost up a...
Shakedown version 2 wasn't very successful.
- Idled light rubbish again, bogging & mis-firing.
Turns out I'd put the wrong coil pack back on. Idiot.
Changed the plugs in all of this. They're pretty coked up.
- Then noticed an oil leak from the turbo return. Took it off, to see there is no...
HomePlugs can be hit & miss, but it's better to have to restart them than struggle for long periods with poor wifi connectivity.
I use the ones with 'pass-through' so you don't loose a plug socket, but they seem to be more temperamental than the more traditional ones. They lose layer 2...
They've tried all that. Using the names, etc but they are just the same gear underneath. They made a Gordonini Clio 200? and it was just a paint job and a badge.
I mean, adopting retro styling. Fashion's rotate, cars just seem to stick to linear. Their just mainstream stuff is no different to...
It won't happen, but a revolutionary idea to keep with a previous post about how car firms used to innovate, would be to do re-runs.
Not just putting out 100 Renault 5's as the tooling would be cost prohibitive, but maybe resurrection of a 'good' sports line and then fitting modern running gear...
With what he does for a living, ragging cars beyond speed limits on video, would you not just pay it, shut up and move on.
I've unsubscribed, can't be doing with bleeting outspokens who pretend they are cleaner than clean and then moan about being caught out. It's borderline palletable anyway...
Great Preston is nice. Sure you'll like it there.
I'm originally from Garforth. Left in the late 90's before it became it's own city.
Spend a fair bit of time in Methley as well, which is a nice place.
You're spot on here mate. It's more effort to do it wrong.
I'm not mechanic either, but I'd never be able to drive it confidently with some of the stuff done to this.
I'd say 'those were the days' but to be honest, I look back now and think they were sh*t.
Handled like boats, barring the Cav GSI with independent rear suspension and 150 bhp was as heady as you dare go. Boasting Dads in the pub beer garden about DOHC when they had no idea what it meant. But...
Sorry mate, totally missed this when you posted!
I managed to stop the oil before it got to dripping. But I think I dropped brake fluid or something on the manifold before I wrapped it. I can't find any photos I took, but something in the back of my mind says it might have been contaminated...
Still not finished this :(
The idle issue, is a combination of knackered components. I replaced the TPS:
And the hesitation when applying the throttle has gone. Thank god.
However it still idles very strange.
So whilst it was running, I disconnected the MAP sensor and it idles and revs...
I had a hand me down mig, which either overheated after 60 seconds or refused to spool. Not ideal for a beginner as it was just stop/start with problem after problem.
Looking for a replacement. Uses are the odd bit of car body work 2mm stuff, making brackets and various small household...
