Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Hmmm - As you said it does seem to be 100% down to the patrol that comes out. Last year it was flat bedded 3 times, but only pulled up onto a retracting flat bed not lifted...
Yeah I know its in the terms and conditions but at the end of the day he could not...
Heres a handful of my favourites for now. There are around 130 that are decent out off ~500 from everyone who went on here...
Il post more of them in here later
I got a fair few pictures of your car, well everyone really after I spent the afternoon wandering round - sounded minty from the outside. Here's a taster :)
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Yeah its through the AA in the UK - the guy who recovered us the first leg was on about trackdays etc and said the call management center apparently refuse to accept jobs that are wanting to be recovered from locations next to circuits, so would have been...
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Didnt know it drove to be honest, tried to bump it on the starter the day before but it didnt want any of it (battery struggled) so never bothered trying it again... We tried to bump it from a dead stop in 1st gear by pushing it but could never get it to turn...
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Possibly, think im going to replace the whole clutch/bearing etc.
Yeah, was driving excellently, best it ever has to be honest... I raised the front up mid morning and lost my RH vibration so I can rule out the driveshaft for now too!
Literally just got...
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Aye feels 100% as it has done for the past few weeks but just does not seem to disengage far enough and allow it into gear, its proper wierd...
Also, with the cable removed from the fork there is loads of play in the fork with a 'twisting' motion like...
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Cable is pretty much brand new...all looks fine..
As Whiteley said really, pedal stop was trimmed when I first did the conversion etc...
I had about 40+ laps before and all of a sudden could not get it into 2nd, no wierd noises etc. No gears will engage...
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Well my car is currently stuck at Cadwell after it broke yet again today... big clutch problems this time! Was going well up until 11ish too.
Recovery tomorrow, sigh!
Got a text from Mike earlier asking did anyone want to meet in Warrington this evening - quite a few turned up... Hers a couple of my pictures, few others had their cameras out so im sure they will post theirs! The 2118s look great on Adams car too
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Fitted the 172 fuel pump and new fuel filter before, seems to run a bit smoother and do more miles to the fuel - I wonder if the 190k+ miler valver pump actually had any affect on the running, hmm. Will have to see how it goes!
Tracking adjusted slightly and...
Swap 225 internals into a 172 block, bolt the 172 box to the block, fit the 225 head to the 172 block, machine a hole for a 172 cambelt kit idler/pulley then bolt all the bits on - been done a few times now!
You mean a 172 breather (with the sticking up bit) wont fit a 182 rocker cover? Thats what I was trying to get at, as the 182's have them smoothed over dont they?
Cable throttle body wont bolt upto the Ph2 inlet, different bolt holes IIRC
With a 182 engine I think you have to swap the breather plate over too that is under the inlet?
It knows how much fuel is being used, there is an output pin on the ECU for 'flow data' which drives the dashboard computer giving it information on how much fuel is being used (Well thats how its wired on my 172 Ph1 clocks from the ECU anyway). This is then calculated against the distance...
