Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project Hmmm - As you said it does seem to be 100% down to the patrol that comes out. Last year it was flat bedded 3 times, but only pulled up onto a retracting flat bed not lifted... Yeah I know its in the terms and conditions but at the end of the day he could not...

Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project Didnt know it drove to be honest, tried to bump it on the starter the day before but it didnt want any of it (battery struggled) so never bothered trying it again... We tried to bump it from a dead stop in 1st gear by pushing it but could never get it to turn...

Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project Possibly, think im going to replace the whole clutch/bearing etc. Yeah, was driving excellently, best it ever has to be honest... I raised the front up mid morning and lost my RH vibration so I can rule out the driveshaft for now too! Literally just got...

He was holding everyone up most of the time :boring: Nice pics and even a few of mine just before it retired itself!

Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project Aye feels 100% as it has done for the past few weeks but just does not seem to disengage far enough and allow it into gear, its proper wierd... Also, with the cable removed from the fork there is loads of play in the fork with a 'twisting' motion like...

Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project Cable is pretty much brand new...all looks fine.. As Whiteley said really, pedal stop was trimmed when I first did the conversion etc... I had about 40+ laps before and all of a sudden could not get it into 2nd, no wierd noises etc. No gears will engage...

Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project Fitted the 172 fuel pump and new fuel filter before, seems to run a bit smoother and do more miles to the fuel - I wonder if the 190k+ miler valver pump actually had any affect on the running, hmm. Will have to see how it goes! Tracking adjusted slightly and...

Coming from the person who wouldnt paint it any color other than blue because they couldn't be arsed changing it on the docs legally yeh? lol

He means police, lol. ANPR will bring it up as blue etc

Swap 225 internals into a 172 block, bolt the 172 box to the block, fit the 225 head to the 172 block, machine a hole for a 172 cambelt kit idler/pulley then bolt all the bits on - been done a few times now!

So simple answer to the OP is dont use a 182 engine and try and swap the inlets, as the 172 Ph1 inlet wont work...

You mean a 172 breather (with the sticking up bit) wont fit a 182 rocker cover? Thats what I was trying to get at, as the 182's have them smoothed over dont they?

Cable throttle body wont bolt upto the Ph2 inlet, different bolt holes IIRC With a 182 engine I think you have to swap the breather plate over too that is under the inlet?

Do you already have a Ph1 engine? If so just unbolt the inlets and attach it to the Ph2 engine...half an hours job if that

100% fine as long as you swap the inlets over from the Ph1 engine as the Ph1 uses a cable setup...

It knows how much fuel is being used, there is an output pin on the ECU for 'flow data' which drives the dashboard computer giving it information on how much fuel is being used (Well thats how its wired on my 172 Ph1 clocks from the ECU anyway). This is then calculated against the distance...
