Very odd that they are such a tight fit. I tried someone elses from this group buy on a brand new FK strut and it was a 'perfect' fit into the spring, so im guessing 1mm difference in size would make it tight!
Just got your PM's on C16v dude. And yes, they should sit inside, mine do, it seems your springs are slightly smaller in diameter.
My car went alot lower too after fitting, so I just wound it up to compensate :)
Standard OE Spring Top Hat --------> AST Bearing ---------> AST Black Top Bit -----------> AST Mount -------------> Through The Strut, Then The Top Ring?
Pull the trim off and there is a nut holding the reel in at the bottom near the door-shut. Then undo the nut higher up on the sliding adjustable bit. Last one is to remove the bar down on the side that the belt is looped round, which is one nut again then twists to come out.
Another thing that I just remembered when I was driving home then...
You said your Magnex pops/bangs with the 172 engine etc, and did in the past too? As mine has never done it (apart from once or twice on track when its been red hot). I have straight through, no cat no silencers just the...
Ive got some pictures step by step from when I fitted mine, Il pop a post in the guides section tomorrow for anyone in the future if they need to confirm on how they go together.

And yeah but it took alot longer to get the MPG/R19 working than it did to connect one wire on the 172 clocks lol!
:(
I doubt an air filter will drop it that much, Chris had a cheap pipercross one on his when it ran..
Ive got a feeling timing for it to be that low even though you said it was ok!
Have a search and see if you can find the thread on here where a lad did the same and they did acctually get sucked down the throttle body and into the engine, was a good read.
I tried an electric impact gun on mine once, wouldnt even touch it. Got an air powered one onto it and it came off in seconds.
No way you can just temporarily bolt the caliper back on and press the brakes?
Mines was a Ph2, although ive put Ph1 bits on it lol.
-Ph1 have the thin sidestrips, small wingmirrors and tailgate badges on the bootstrip.
-Ph2 have the fat sidestrips with the model badge in them, bigger wingmirrors, different rear lights and the tailgate badges on the bootlid itself
-Ph3...

I'm guessing they mean the timing tools to re-time the cambelt, as they are around that price.
