Yeah the wrap may not catch fire if you set it alight directly, but if fluid is spilt onto it and that catches fire it will just hold the fluid and keep burning, happened to Matteh on track last year :(

Yeah the flange can just be pressed out, will probably need to replace the bearing too. Is there any thread sticking out of the back of the flange? Im guessing its snapped flush on the wheel face...check to see if its sticking through on the back as you might be lucky and be able to wind it out...

Steering going light sounds like tracking, its worth getting it checked anyway as most places do free-to-check and only charge if you need it adjusting. When I run my car with more toe out for trackdays my steering is light over bumps in the road. It might look the same height, but if you think...

Yeah that's when the last one was replaced, this one cracked a few months after, its only coming out to finish the cage and have the paint done. No doubt itl crack all the way across once its out so it will need a new one anyway :(

Heated screen is by far the best option, there was a group buy for the Mk1s at one point at around £170. Although, im on my third windscreen, soon to have a 4th fitted and they are £80 a time, I didn't want to have to be spending another ~£100 per screen every time one chips or cracks from the edge!

They're pretty much a waste of time TBH. I had one when I first did mine 12 months ago, still got it somewhere. Unfortunately they make f**k all difference in reality

Get a metal fabrication place to make them up for you, its only sheet metal with punched holes after all. Or pay CustomCages/Cage Place a lot of money usually lol. And yeah, screen has to come out to do it properly...

Just discolouring iirc. Bearing turns freely, it wont 'spin' if you turn it and let go, cant remember if its meant to. There is a bit of movement in-and-out on the bearing, cant remember if thats normal either though lol. Chucked all my other release bearings out so got nothing to compare it...

That was just a price for a 172 Ph2 box using the lads car reg, unsure if it was with or without the speedo drive to be honest. As far as I know a Ph1 box with speedo drive is a hundred quid cheaper on service exchange.

Yeah, I thought it would have been more expensive than the 'new' JB3 ive got on mine, which was around £900+VAT few years back when it was done on service exhange, so it says on the invoice anyways

Lol! Yeah, they are just round plates with a hook that go through the wishbone, round the bush then have a bolt through the wishbone on the other end. Out of the 1000's of pics ive got, I havent a single one of the wishbone/ARB from underneath lol :(

Mine was noisy for ages, I just left it as the engine was coming out anyway. I had some mad flatspot sometimes around 3k, other times I did not. Checked the timing when I took it out and it was 100% spot on. Belt came off and I was left with this... finlI8CG83Y The same happened with Mattehs...
