Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project Just connected a fresh battery to crank it over.....just exactly the same, cranks and cranks, this is with the replacement coilpack too. Andrew....if im getting 2 x 12v's...does that mean the immobiliser is not active? or something else?

yeah, tried rotating them. Thing is fuel is coming to the line on priming and cranking (checked with jerry can)...the coil is also getting voltage on cranking, which the TDC will not allow if its getting an insufficient signal, surely? Unsure if the actual injectors themselves are firing, but...

Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project I just picked up a spare coilpack, will put it on in the morning and hopefully it will fire up. If not il pop the fuel rail out and give that a try, sounds the easiest way to do it! Dont see why it shouldn't be the coilpack though, as its getting a feed on...

Re: N/W Xmas Meet Yeah they are expensive for 'arrive and drive', usually can bargin with them for groups etc. Speedkarting is reasonable for groups, probably the best track round the N/W....3 levels of track etc

Re: N/W Xmas Meet Karting would be a good idea, but i would think availability might be limited due to companies having staff christmas events and the like...would have to find out... Speedkarting/Daytona/etc there are loads about, prices vary quite a bit though

as said you dont need them for 172/182's :)

Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project possibly, I was just going to multi-meter the earth of the injector plug and test cont. between it and an earth on the chassis... Im going to try the coilpack first and hope for the best, if not then il have to try it

All the plugs were dry, and im getting fuel to the rail on cranking...came out of the line into a jerry can as it should. Coilpack is getting a voltage on cranking, but no spark what-so-ever. So im hoping its the coilpack that is knackered, going to test another one and go from there.

Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project Its getting fuel for sure at the rail, popped the line off into a can and it comes out fine on cranking. Tried a spare lead + spark plug against the block from the coil and its getting nothing. If it was an immobiliser issue the coil wouldnt be getting a...

Im only trying to get there first thing so I can pay up and get my car on and not have to wait for ages :) Last time we had one people just turned up throughout the day

Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project Just took all the leads off, and left one 'resting' on its connector on the coilpack....no spark in sight though. Suppose I better take the inlet manifold off and test one of the plugs against the block, but I don't think its sparking at all.

Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project yeah. I just tested it, its giving out 12v for a second or so on ignition (when pump primes)...then around 10v while cranking (same as the pump, tested at that end too). So I know the coilpack is getting power when cranking... Did yours just show 0v?

Just checked... Ignition position 2, priming... 0v--------12v for a second or so-----0v Then Cranking 8v-10v Which is odd, as im sure the pump isnt running on cranking. I suppose I could pop the fuel line off and put it into a can and see if its coming out while cranking.
