Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Doesn't fit due to the hump it has for the PAS/Rack on a 172, I have one but had to use the williams ARB instead :(
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Drive it home before, no more knocking at all, just gotta check the tracking again now, tends to wander a bit at high speed.
Inlets were a last minute rattle can jobby a while back lol, suprised they have lasted tbh!
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Nah, not bothered.
Im pretty much sure something on the 172 widetrack dosent fit correctly (few mm's out maybe), and putting forces on bolts that they shouldnt be getting.
Going to replace all the subframe bolts with locktite in the next week or two...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Had a drive down to NW Performance ;) and spent a day there today, got the car up on the ramps to check it over, found out what my knocking on the steering was (balljoint-to-hub bolt was loose), and tightened up a few other bolts that had somehow worked...
yeah, over and through the gap. its near enough correct, but a bloody tight fit. Ideally you need to run a solid rear dogbone mount to overcome the 'knocking' of the downpipe hitting the tunnel, caused by engine movement forwards/backwards, as the gap is seriously tight.
Custom downpipe is...
a standard ZS was keeping up round track because of its better suspension at mallory, lol
172/182 would pull away out of corners IMO, quite a bit more torque + power
If its leaking from one of the bolt holes or near it Fred always says just take it out, put some silicone gasket on and put it back in, then torque it up (12nm)...
if its a large leak you probably haven't got much chance and the whole cover would have to come off, which means you need timing...
yeah seen hoses like that, but as you said I have no idea how good they are (or not) either...
I have been looking around autojumbles when ive seen them at shows for a simple 'S' shaped hose in the right diameter, from another car etc, but ive yet to come across anything....wonder if there is...
yeah, well im not even sure if mine is the 172 item. goes all the way down under my clutch fork then back up the other side onto the rad lol....
I was going to cut it and try and make it into just an S bend, as the inlet for the top rad on mine is only a bit lower than the thermostat housing...
ah cool. not needed then.
nah you would have only needed them if you didnt have the solid top mounts, as you would have had to remove your standard top mounts which would have needed the compressors
