Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
yeah, my emu was connected 'outside' to test if it worked, to pin 58's wire...so yeah it would explain it
yeah he might well remove the connection to the pin, then solder it onto the blob inside for the track
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
yeah, but why is james emulator (fitted by paul) soldered to pin 58's pin (the start of the track, blob of solder).....as it wouldnt do anything if the track had been cut....it wouldnt be able to send its 'signal' into the ECU's computer gubbins
The guy...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Andrew Cooke, or Matteh, could you possibly take your ECU casing off and check the ribbon/pcb near pin 58 and see if its the same? If so, its proof that its the ECU Clinic thats done it in my eyes....
yeah^
Although, i had RSTuner show a knock sensor fault in the 'memory', it wasnt currently present though. So he may have had a knock sensor warning at some point, and the diag he has had done has just shown it up, but it could have been in the memory for months....and not currently present...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Im not sure if it can be soldered, dont want to risk f**king up any other tracks!
Ok....pin 58 is on the middle row, three in from the left (you can see the hole)
And then up close, two copies of each, ive drawn on in red where the track should be approx...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
I have no 'hard proof' that they have tampered with the board, or in fact that they flashed the wrong map, its just my word against theres (and maybe matteh's if his is the wrong map too)....
Its just IMO that its them, as no one else has touched the unit!
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Various places, installing IT/Network equipment etc.
Anyway, ive just had the casing off the ECU again, to have a closer look. Ive had it apart before, but didnt notice anything wrong or anything that had been added (Possibly by ecu clinic etc)...Anyway...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
I tried once earlier, rang out though, he might have been out....had to go out to work then (where I am now)....
I wasnt going to go to work if he was there as I was gona try and get a lift upto leeds to take the ECU, but never got in touch so had to leave it.
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Not got anywhere yet today either, coming upto a week without the car running now again.
PM'd paul@rstuning regarding flashing my ECU to virginise it to 'enable' the emulator, but not had a reply on here/msn....so ive just wasted another day doh
Not long...
My old car is earlier in the thread, thought id put my current one in here too....As its technically not a sport, ive just borrowed parts from one heh ;)
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
I think the decoder/key/UCH on the loom i got are all mismatched.
Basically the emulator misses out all that shite, and provides the ECU with an immobiliser code (what the UCH usually does) when requested by the ECU on ignition.
Once the emulator provides...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
yeah lol :(
Wanted to swap the box (other box is practically brand new), so I dont have any issues (My current box likes to whine in 2nd and 3rd)....as ive got brands on 27th, fcs in june, ring in july, cadwell august, oulton sept....so just want to not...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Dont need another ECU to sent to RS, this one will do, as it just needs flashing again with a standard 172 map off the car to virginise it, then fit the emulator, and i should be away...
But 1. its more cost, 2. ive not got the time to be waiting to send it...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Just tried to PM' you, says inbox full though?!
Nah, not got £1k+ to put into a decent setup + mapping so its definately out of the question.
Going to call the RAC shortly I think and get the car towed home.
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Nah correct ECU. 172 Ph1, exact same part number/model number (Sirius32, is the model, drives alot of other models too), but the specific model number is exact same as Matteh's.
I flashed it as said with the 172 software + map, all went well, so technically...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
No word from ECU clinic...i sent another email but no reply as of yet...
Emulator arrived this morning, fitted just 30 mins ago. All wired up, getting power etc, immob wire is linked to the immob pin on the ECU (58), car still dosent start! FFS.
This means...
Make sure if your getting the ECU de-immobilised that its hardware based, and not just someone re-coding the software (ECU Clinic, who i used, are software only).
Hardware based = soldering a cicruit inside the ecu.
Otherwise wave bye bye to your time and money if you ever want to re-map it...
lol at pm'ing me, ive just gone off other peoples advice ;)
you have to pop the cam seals off the end (passenger side of head) and check the two slots on the end of the cams line up horizontally to each other....
turn it over by hand on the crank pulley clockwise until they line up, if they...
Got round to getting a few of the videos up onto the net, already posted my pics here. Got quite a bit of action in off the sub 6k limiter, short shifting FTL.
