I'm glad to hear you got the car fixed and it all resolved in the end.
No suprise it was Halfords that f**ked up.
Its beyond me why there are so many Halfrauds up and down the Uk that have totally clueless staff that are out to rip of the public.
Rentech from now on is it ?
Lmao at this thread.
I think there is a few replys where people have been spitting there dummy out the pram and face it if you add ripspeed crap from halfrauds to your car, wheels etc etc to your car the premium will go up.
And if your young and in the statistics bracket that normally attracts...
Depends when the undertray was wiped clean last.
As some garages just remove the cap to get to the sump plaug instead of removing the whole tray.
Then the oil runs into the tray and is never wiped.
The same goes for the oil filter if there aint enough rags been stuffed under it to catch any oil...
Surely there f**k in in 5w40 and 0w40 as the first number all comes down to how low a temperature the oil can work at the 40 is the important number aint it ?
I was just thinking that.
Theres so many people that think they know it all as they use a certain type of oil and they can't see past it.
I guess we should listen to the traders as they have filled and emptied upteen gearboxes unlike the average joe that changes his once a year.
Ok cheers, i wander what the poll comes back with if a nice moderator can get one set up :)
I read in some threads that 75w90 can eat into syncros or some s**t like that.
Sound b****cks to me though
After nearly half hour or reading gearbox oil threads i am still stumped as to what gearbox oil to put into my 1*2.
I have read replys on threads from Cs users saying to use nothing other than 75w80 (Castrol EPX oil etc) as the gearboxes are sensitive and other people replying to say 75w90...
Why is there so many people on CS with a bad opinion on Mobil 1 0w40 oil ?
I have read on here you can use these in a 172.
0w40
5w40
10w40
and
15w40 at a push...
So why all the bad press ?
:(
Another mechanic to put on the CS wall of shame if you can find out who or where the botched work was done.
I guess its another mechanics lack of knowledge on the F4R :(
Its suprising how much lack of knowledge folk have on these engines for the amount thats on the road.
Hows the dephaser looking ?
I wander if Mobil 1 say on the label not for 2.0 16v Clios :rasp:
I can imagine what s**te Renault buys in bulk, a big drum of 10w40 part synthetic no doubt so it can be used on a range of cars.
I'm thinking Mobil 1 is slightly better than that :)
Its down to personal choice i guess
