I don't want to burst anyones bubble. But wouldn't a painted or lacquered grill be prone to bad stonechips ?

Thats what i thought till i came to fit my oil gauges and was checking for leaks. My fan kicks in as soon as my oil temp gauge hits 80c(coolant temp is in middle of gauge), this is while car is idling.

I had a look at the top of gearbox and i can't see any white or black plastic nut on the front of the gearbox. All i can see is some sort of plastic breather tube :(

Sorry to bring this thread up from the dead. So whats the difference between ET38.5 and ET40 ????? Would ET 40 have more chance of rubbing on a 172 lowered on Sportlines ? If the Cup is ET 38.5 ?

I'd assume that they are the same. Take a few measurements off them and compare :)

Its in the same place in the 172/182's. The a little protective cover that clips over it to keep s**t out of the contacts.

When i get back from offshore i’m planning on changing my gearbox oil on my 172. Is this the drain plug on my gearbox ? See pics below? And am i right in saying that the airbox has to be removed to refill it ? As there is a plastic wing nut car/plug thing on the top of the gearbox that you...

Just a thought, it may be cheaper to get fishing for your old key :) You never know once dried out/battery replaced if needed it may work.
