Power steering hose removal - urgent help!

Isn't it technically only two nuts - one on each end of the hose plus a few clips? It is more of the thinking and ability to do fiddling things I lack, and how to get around things in non-ideal situations without breaking or damaging it. If it were on a bench where I could easily get a spanner...

Power steering hose removal - urgent help!

I have had all of those off at some point.....and I am not the most practically minded person in the world. And I also don't own a ramp either, which is a big thing to gain access/ease of working.

Power steering hose removal - urgent help!

When this happened to the rear beam bolts me and my brother instantly got the grinder out and cut them off, this didn't add much time you are right. It was getting a replacment that took time as we dodn't have anything long enough in the shed. Not sure why they are removing it, I wouldn't know...

    Engine Dynamics for a rebuild?

I have a 1.4 Clio for sale which is cheap.....however I need it until the 172 is fixed, which should be hopefully this weekend. I bought this car to keep me going over last winter while the 172 was getting some serious love. Sorry a little off topic and a shamelss plug for the advert!

Power steering hose removal - urgent help!

I have got the low and high pressure pipes, and I think it is the high pressure pipe that has failed. He said there are three on the rack or pump (can't remeber what he said) and it is the middle one. I am hoping that it is one of the pipes I have bought! If not and if they have taken them out...

    Engine Dynamics for a rebuild?

@jesus you are thinking the same as me with an ED build. Mine car is currently at 170k miles (the 35k miles that I have owned it have been very well looked after despite the track abuse). I have done pretty much 99% of the chassis upgrades I want and its time for me to move onto power. I was...

Power steering hose removal - urgent help!

Ok small update...this is hilarious tbh. Borrowed mother's car to get to work this week, that broke on the way to work Monday - wipers stopped working (motor is nakard) during the pouring rain. Had to stop. Nothing I could do so got recovered. When I was rescued it had stopped raining and...

    Kit's Ph1 172

Car update: * daily Clio not road legal still being sold * 172 in the garage getting repaired * borrowing mum's car this week as I am car-less - this has now broken on the way to work. Wipers have just stopped and I can see naff all. Fuses good, swapped relays. Nothing. THIS IS NOT IDEAL!! In...

@Dr Jekyll Have you sabotaged my car??!! As its currently in the garage getting the power steering sorted. And seeing as I am spending money on it I was thinking of keeping it. Hate spending money and seeing no benefit seeing as this won't make it more valuable to sell. Damn thing!!

Power steering hose removal - urgent help!

Car is now in the garage getting this sorted. Got the pipes from Renault this morning (well it was the Ford dealership as that is apparently where you order Renault parts from....logic). Feels weird giving my car to a garage, first time in 10 years of driving I am not doing the work! Thanks...

Power steering hose removal - urgent help!

The original plan this morning was to do it myself tomorrow after taking it apart and assessing it today. However it has changed after looking how it is done and I don't have any help from my step dad as he is at working.

Power steering hose removal - urgent help!

It was urgent until I saw the effort needed! I've taken it on the chin and going to take another day off work. Car is now the daily again. Needed urgent help and advice if I was going to do it tomorrow. But that plan has changed That plug looks ok, all bone dry. But I'll ask the garage...

Power steering hose removal - urgent help!

Like the bodge, if it works then who cares!!!. But I've bought the right parts and want it done properly. But the metal pipe is quite corroded on the outside so not sure if it's able to do this simple fix.

Power steering hose removal - urgent help!

The pipe appears to be leaking from the crimped join between the metal section (to the pump) and the hose section (to the pressure switch by the alternator). The metal section is quite corroded so probably worth a change. Going to speak to my step dad when he gets home from work and take it...

Why??!!?? I hate these kinds of jobs. I have removed the bumper, battery and induction kit to open up the engine bay a bit and that has made a difference.

Power steering hose removal - urgent help!

Car is leaking power steering fluid at an alarming rate. Think I have found the issue - the high pressure hose (towards the bulk head it is in some insulation stuff and goes into the pressure switch thing by the alternator) is leaking. Well everything else is bone dry and around the crimped...

Not after boost personally, prefer NA and the noise it makes! I am only being OCD with getting the engine re-built as it has just ticked over 170k miles and with the extra power through it with cams and ITBs I don't know it will last for long! Plus the enginebuild was a lot less than £4k but...

So bit more progress on this. New engine is in. Was really easy to do once we got our heads around the starter motor as the loom on the engine and car were slightly different but did the same thing - just joined up differently half way down the loom. Other things have been done like the...

Also make sure you put a small punch mark where you want to drill as the slightly curved surface is a nightmare to start drilling on, otherwise the drill will wonder.

Stop it!!! As I so would tomorrow. Going to wait on this job offer I am hopefully receiving this week first then I can see what my financial situation is. Plus I want to wait to sell at least one Clio first, probably the normal one after it's MoT test in two weeks.

No pictures unfirtunately, but same colour and wheels as this one It's technically not for sale, but he said he would sell it to me. He doesn't need to get rid of it. No sure exact price but it does sound reasonable looking on eBay. It is the same friend who my step dad bought the E36 from...
