    Bonnet won't open..

Same problem on mine a while back. Two person job to open the bonnet as previously said, or I fasioned a piece of string to the release lever so I could pull it while lifting the bonnet. Fixed it when I took the latch off and cleaned it up with a bit of WD40 and then just repositioned it.

The Fatty's KTEC alternative induction setup that works just as well!

How have i not seen this before??! I want to get something to add more BBRRAAAAPPPP until I can afford throttle bodies and cams. This maybe a stupid question...but.....will it work with sillicone hoses instead of the ally one? Or is there a reason to go for the ally? As I am not a fan of the...

    Normal Opperating Temperature??

Annoyling I had a thermostat to change yesterday and me and my step dad decided against it as it didn't look like it needed doing. Should have just done it!!!

    Normal Opperating Temperature??

Nope. Before and after I changed it, it was steady. Rose when you expected it too when stood still. Before I changed it it read half way when up to temperature

    Normal Opperating Temperature??

Fitted a new temperature sensor yesterday as my gauge cut out when it got above half way. But then when it cooled below half way it would kick back in again. Just drove 90mins down the M4 and this is how hot it got, is this normal? I haven't got it hot yet, like stood in traffic for a while...

What have you done to your car today ???

    A33, Junction 11 of M4 in Reading.

Followed me out of the turning for Grazley Green, up the A33 towards J11 M4 and then turned right to Thre Mile Cross / Spensers Wood. In a 2004 (I think) Black 182, gave me a toot as you passed.

    Help in Reading

You have the exact same problem as me when mine went las month as I don't have a long enough socket, luckily I struggled for a week before I could get back to my parents. And I am also living near the university in Reading, just not a student!

    Fitting recaros to 182

I used a 3.3ohm resistor to turn my air bag light off when fitting my bucket seats. Me being OCD would have done the reprogramming but then if you want to put the car back to standard then it is easier just to remove the resistor, thats what the thought process with mine were. Same with the...

What was the first thing you did to your Clio?

Removed the stupid Lexus style rear lights so people at Llandow the following week didn't judge!

Plasti Dip Entire car - results

How did the dip cope with wear and tear of daily life? As at that price I could so easily be tempted to do mine if it is durable enough to last a few years. The finish and colour of yours is real nice, I do like it

Had to change a bulb in the pitch black this morning. Very tricky to do it one handed and hold a torch in the other!

Towbar for a bike rack (yes I am going to get abuse for this!)

That does look quite tidy tbh. Then just fit the bike rack to that? Presume it is simple fitting? Remove the rear bumper and bolts onto the subframe? Then somehow magic the electric together? (They are not my favourite thing to do!)

How long roughly do rear brakes last?

Just had a look at them and the edge of them does look quite coroded and not like the front, so I think this is the case and will fall apart before they need replacing! I think I read somewhere that it was 95% to the front, not sure how true that is. Next time I am working on the rear I may...

How long roughly do rear brakes last?

Yeah I knew this, the calipers match my wheels if its been stood still over a wet weekend! But I am sure it is getting louder and takes longer for it to wear off. Don't think they are binding, wheels are cold to touch after a long drive, fronts can get a little warm if driving around town with...

How long roughly do rear brakes last?

Had the car since October 2012 and it has covered ~20k miles since then. The rear discs and pads haven't been changed in this time. They were a bit grindy today when I set off to work after being stood for 2 days, as expected, but then by the time I did 4 miles they didnt make a noise. Is it...

    opinions

My wheels aren't grey / black. However, mine is a stripped out track day car which does help they lairy colour of the wheels. If it had an interior and not been chanegd for track then I would have gone dark grey wheels or back to standard. There could be a reason why the majority of Clios have...

Towbar for a bike rack (yes I am going to get abuse for this!)

Yes, I agree they can look gash. But need some functionality with my car! hmmm....I think i will look more into roof racks. If I get one and start using it my opinion will change. I've used tow bar ones before on a friend's car and my step dad's VW T5 has one, and I think they are good. How...

Towbar for a bike rack (yes I am going to get abuse for this!)

Yeah I have seen yours on the MTB thread. I have been tempted, just don't like the idea of it really. But I may have to if it is the only way of transporting a bike on the exterior. It's just me being picky reall, risk of dropping it down the side damaging the car really. Is it illegal to tow...

    Kit's Ph1 172

Managed to get a few bits done over Christmas. First of was new wiper arms that I painted black as the ones on it were grey and faded. Also used some G-techniqs C4 ont he wiper scuttle to bring that back to life along with the rest of the black trim. Looks so much better!! Then I removed...

Towbar for a bike rack (yes I am going to get abuse for this!)

Oh and the next question if the answer is "yes", what is the best bar to fit and is it easier / more sensible to get one professionally fitted, or are they simple to fit? I think I saw you that said this on my search earlier. Do you know what tow bar it is by any chance? Just so I can have a...

Towbar for a bike rack (yes I am going to get abuse for this!)

I have done some searching about and I cannot fit a towbar due to no quoted towing weight for my 172. But I am looking at getting a tow bar bike rack to take my MTB around as I hate boot mounted ones and I don't want anything on the roof and taking it apart each time I want to go anywhere is...

    Which one to buy

I agree with the brakes and tyres. After driving many track cars of various power / handling abilities the thing which made the difference were these. I currently have Brembo HC discs on my clio and are good. Tyres are Toyo Proxes as it's also my daily drive so don't want road legal slicks...

    Caliper paint

I need to paint mine to make it look smart. Was just going to brush black Hammerite them. I wouldn't go silver as surely they would end up covered in brake dust and then look crap again??

What have you done to your car today ???

Washed and waxed mine....then did a 3hr motorway journey up to North Wales andaround some country lanes to see the missus, now the car is filthy! Oh and fitted wind deflectors and my brake duct inlets in the of lights ready to be plumbed in, photos to follow when in back home.

Powdercoating Wheels - scoping it out / ideas

Need to get my wheels powder coated and refurbed. Not sure who does it around the Reading or Gloucester area. Tried a google search and a lot of places that come up are like engineering firms. I take it they will be sandblasted first before powder coating (not sure how it all works). and what...
