I’ve missed off a few things like PMS air con delete kit, Powerflex poly bushes all round, braided lines etc...
Most of the modifications they’ve done have come from years of doing trackdays and things breaking down like power steering pumps, exhaust flange falling off, destroying standard...
PBS are a good pad for fast road and are decent for track days. As was suggested above, take front fogs out to get some cooling to the brakes. They’re pretty good around track from factory but you’ll soon find the limits when trying to keep up with dedicated track Clio’s. A few lads I go with...
The rear beam isn't too bad, although mine has gone rusty in less than 6 months. I've got a spare so i'm going to refurbish that one myself, to ensure it lasts a bit longer. I assume you're planning on doing some anti-corrosion work under the tank?
Another trackday done at Cadwell last week although it was probably the most red flags i've seen to date with major oil spillages at Coppice going into Charlies, end of Park Straight into Chris Curve and finally between Gooseneck and Mansfield.
At one point I went out, did 1 lap, red flags came...
Well done. The temptation to go into 5th down Park Straight is always there. And the pace was there from the off considering it was your first time there.
A few shots from Croft last week.
Not many Clio's there this time, but had some good fun chasing the few that were there down. New PB too 🚗💨
More satisfying though was the car held up beautifully, which means all that work i did over the winter paid off. Pretty pleased considering i'd never...
So a dodgy breaker switch from Amazon, less than 4 months old, appears to have been the cause of my frustration.
Anyway at least I know how to take a UCH out of a Clio now 😂
I also noticed the female spade connector on the solenoid was pretty loose. I think this has been at the heart of most...
Much appreciated @sennaalbronda . The DF067 code also led me in the wrong direction, in fact I’ve still got that fault code now despite the car running perfectly 🤷🏻♂️
I guess having a proper Renault Clip diagnostic pays for itself.
I know, but I’m not built that way. I can sorn her and let it rot tbh. If I knew what it was going to cost to fix, I’d reprice.
I drove her to work last Friday with a smile on my face, no intention of selling. It’s only a car at the end of the day and I’ve absolutely loved working on it and...
Yeah it’s a £3,000 car all day long but until I can get her started I couldn’t ask that. 2 weekends of messing about trying to figure out what is wrong had exhausted me.
I know plenty of people who’ll be able to fix it but I’m not putting anymore money into it.
Well after spending all day trying to get the old girl started I finally threw the towel in.
Spent a lot of money and time on this car and was hoping I could fix her but I’m at a loss, so she’s going the journey.
I’m sure somebody who knows a bit about these cars or is mechanically minded can...
Pulled up into work Friday morning, jumped in car after work, turned the key and absolutely nothing. Engine wouldn’t crank. Ran a diagnostic and got this.
DF067 - Ring - Decoder Connection, no communication with ring or transponder key.
Lovely!
Trailered her home Saturday and started...
A bit of spare time through the week so spent it refurbing my manky old calipers. They were due to go back to DMFX as exchange units but thought I’d swallow the surcharge and use these as spares.
Wire wheeled old paint off, left in a bucket of Evaporust for 24 hours, then brushed some high temp...
I’ve got the modified spacer because the strut tops were sticking out. They’re no different from the originals but don’t seem to affect the ride at all
Hmm there’s still a fair amount of poly bushing going on for a road car though. And I tried Grams and Cooksport with Cup dampers before returning to Cup springs. I just found the car never really worked properly with aftermarket kit.
On saying that my ARB bushes are also Strongflex but the ride...
I’m using genuine wishbones on my daily with Lemforder ball joints and they’re fine. I’ve also got Yellow series Strongflex bushes which are an upgrade over OEM but don’t cause any harshness to the ride. I’ve done 25,000 road miles on them in the last 2 years.
What springs/dampers/suspension...
Last bits done on the track car today. Overhauled the brakes with new calipers, pads and discs. Upgraded the geometry pins and gave everything a final check over before Croft in a few weeks.
Put a shift in on Sunday doing final prep on the track car.
New plugs, injectors, new radiator, auxiliary belt and a general clean up of the engine and components.
The adjuster on the cup bracket was also bent and the nut had cross threaded so fixed that at the same time.
Only need to replace...
I couldn't for the love of me get the ABS/ESP lights to go off on my track car so i just taped over them. I try every time i do a track day haha.
I also did the Nurburgring over a whole weekend with SERV, ABS and Traction Control lights on and car was fine. Whilst i'm not bothered about ESP, I...
