    Tom's Meg 225 - The Clio Replacement

Removed the ITG induction kit so I can start on fitting a V6 airbox and smaller battery. I'll update with photos when I'm done

Ph1 172 Track Car. Next Year I Go Racing - Hopefully!

The thing is though that there are Clio turbos used on track which will be hotter on the IAT side of things and therefore put more heat into the engine but have no issues. That's why I'm asking about the IAT, because then you will at least know how much heat is going in. If they aren't that...

Good to know it's not just me they worked for :)

Was it running a set of my itb extensions?

    Throttle body setups...what's required?

But there's nothing quite like the satisfaction of the ITBs howling as you pass a boosted car.

    Megane 250/265, overlooked?

This one has the spec you want. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/renault/renaultsport-megane/renault-megane-250-r-s-recaros-and-cup-chassis/4412349

    Megane 250/265, overlooked?

Definitely get the 250 over the 265. Cheaper and after a remap they're both the same. 3" Exhaust (preferably with decat or sports cat), filter, remap and your looking at 315-320bhp and 350-360lbft. Cup pack is worthwhile. Very, very capable car for the money compared to other cars out there.

    Rs2 extra

The polo radiator is too thin. Look for the larger Scirocco/Golf radiator like this one https://www.vwheritage.com/shop/321121253AL/radiator-mk1-2-golf-jetta-scirocco-1600-diesel-gti-525mm/ And it is best with two 10 or 9" fans rather than one 12" fan.

    Rs2 extra

The extensions you need are 45mm diameter. If you get the Jenvey angled spacers as well you have enough room for both for even more runner length.

    ITB's gaskets.

Standard engine with standard Renault gaskets etc. I would do the following though to make the most of the ITBs and enging longevity :- Uprated cams £320ish (Piper BP285 are the best £/performance) Head port/polish (makes the most of the cams and ITBs) ARP conrod bolts (standard are a weak...

    Fuel setups

Standard is 3.5 bar on the Ph2. 4 bar will be more than enough.

There is indeed a pressure regulator on the sender unit in the Ph2 tank.

TRACK TROPHY 381 – PROGRESS TO DATE

Also the Ktec filter does work, it just needs oiling more regularly that the other filters do as its thinner than other filters. It doesn't fall apart like they used to (where they got the name 'filter of death') so as long as you keep on top of the oiling of it I don't see a need to change it

If you ask for custom rates they should valve them accordingly.

    Tom's Meg 225 - The Clio Replacement

That will partly be the damping as well. I would go 8kg all around and try and save some weight. If you really wanted you could get some 9s on the front but it might end up too hard.

    Tom's Meg 225 - The Clio Replacement

I ran 7kg/5kg on the ASTs with the PMS stiffened rear beam and a lot of weight taken out, especially over the front. I was at 900kg with fuel. Also the ASTs have outboard rear coilovers so my 5kg springs were equivalent to 8kg inboard springs like the BCs have. It would have been better around...

    Tom's Meg 225 - The Clio Replacement

It does, it rides nicely too. I phoned Curtis at AST not long ago to give him feedback as they were a development set with the different pistons. I would go for the 8kg springs front and rear. Have you got a rear ARB fitted already?

    AST rebuild

Just spoke to Curtis about another matter. Not had a problem getting through to him on the office number 01242 236168 My Megane coilovers took about 5-6weeks but they were a custom order.

Making good progress on the welding and you've done a great job on that seat you had off me. Are you still using the paint as well? Wish I'd have been able to store my blue pop somewhere. That was such a mint shell.

    Tom's Meg 225 - The Clio Replacement

Got some professional photos done, nice to see it corners nice and flat, the suspension mods are obviously working. Wouldn't mind getting the R26 rear axle though with the extra rear ARB I haven't got now and I believe the R26 runs bigger bearings in the rear discs too which I suspect will last...

TRACK TROPHY 381 – PROGRESS TO DATE

Looks great! I do miss my Clio  Hopefully I'll be able to go halves on another with a friend at some point as a dedicated track car, I need the sound of ITBs back in my life lol. I don't know how you have secured the solderless nipple on the throttle cable but I used epoxy on mine in...

    Tim's Forged LY R26

Tbh 340-350 is my target. The biggest thing is more torque for me, it held back because of the standard rods. I can get steel rods for a very good price and keep the standard pistons. I'm also working on some cams that should give the same gains with a bit better spool and more top end than...
