The only thing I can see you haven’t had a reply to, is your air box removal question.
this site has a lot of 197/200’s - I’m sure plenty while chime in. You may have just posted at a quiet time and/or you post missed.
you can also use the search bar and 99.9% of your answers will be in there...
Amazing finish! So satisfying! I’m about to start this kind of mission on my Discovery 3.
can you expand on what you used? What is the epoxy? Primer?
Keep up the good work! :)
This is what’s ruining my interest in cars. It’s hard to buy a new’ish car now that isn’t strangled by wiring and emissions. I wouldn’t dream of fiddling with a hybrid car etc.
A ‘nut and bolt’ restoration means that everything down to the nuts and bolts are replaced - so I took that as you’ll be under sealing, refreshing lower arms/bushes/suspension/Paint/nuts and bolts etc.
Just going around a car and replacing nuts and bolts, if that’s what you mean. It’s not a...
I was quite lucky as a kid - my father had an Escort Cosworth when they were ‘run of the mill performance car’. He must have done about 30,000+ miles in it - tuned it to 400Hp, raced it, stone chipped it, took it out in the rain and snow.. Hammered it around the Isle of Mann TT circuit.
He...
As above - the ship has already sailed for these. Better off buying a Rolex watch as an investment. Takes up much less space..
I just don’t think it’s as easy as just parking a car up for 10+ years. There’s so much stuff that’ll seize and perish over the years - the car would need...
I also know of a 172 Cup with <25k on it. 1 owner from new. But because it hasn’t done the mileage, the owner hasn’t had the belts done! 😅 even after me saying it’s age or mileage, whichever comes first. Makes me shudder!
The owner is in his late 60’s.
@frayz ive found the 1155 unreal on the road and track - trumps the ds2500 - I’ve had both. You do get some squeal from the 1155, but the bite they give more than makes up for that.
1155’a blew my mind how much more confidence I had in braking distances. When they’re up to temp, they were...
Just don’t go OTT and lose sight.. do the bare minimum to get it through an MOT and road worthy. Then at least you can enjoy the car through the stages of improvement. You’ll feel the car has value if you have use of it.
Standard engine and enjoy it. You’ll regret ripping it apart and having an unreliable/expensive turbo build. Or it’ll get broken and split for parts half way through the build.
Standard engine is the best way to enjoy these...!
Mixed reviews from what I’ve heard.
I’ve never had issues with using standard coolant on cars for track.
That evans stuff is just another money spinner IMO.
Can’t fault mine - got the electric fold away tow bar too. So it covers all bases. They’re a proper well rounded vehicle.
R dynamic pack makes a huge difference also.
Love a long term project thread.
I wouldn’t worry about the belts too much - I know of a few cars years over due belts and one I know of still on it’s original belt...! On a 53 plate..! Lol.
just get them done when you get back and I’m sure you’ll be perfectly fine.
