According to a scooby site the dastek is only as good as the person programming it. Owendevelopments and powerstation are two that have been recommended. Apparently they also deal with other programmable stuff other than Dastek and are good at both. One is in oxford and the other cambridge.
Have S02s on rear and think they may be better than teh F1 as they have more of a usual tread pattern. F1 being a slick with grooves cut into it makes it a full on slick when those grooves get packed with snow.
195s dont help either. Looking forward to tomorrow already
Scary !!!!
Tried getting up a hill and would not go, had to let a bit of air out although on 31 for high speed driving so probably needed it.
Just wheelspan everywhere and drifted to the left even though I was on full lock to the right. Took me an hour to drive four miles in this lovely...
Yeah difference is the way ot is done. Think mine was a subframe out job whereas others take the engine out.
Hillpower etc I know charge more but they check and clean everything with the engine out so you get what you pay for. I was happy enuff with things so went the cheaper option.
Mr...
I got the clutch at just over 60 quid inc VAT from GSF. Fitting was quoted at 6 hours by my local mechanic, other quote 12. He did it for 150 quid cash in hand and included fitting a new clutch cable which was a bugger apparently.
Yeah looks mint and I paid 5k for mine 3 years ago.
Seems a bit modded though with superchip and 16" alloys but saves you the cost. Stainless steel exhaust a bonus as should last a lifetime.
Id just go down and drive it and check SH like cambelt, clutch etc. Just changed my original clutch...
First try bleeding the system as it could be air. Haynes manual tells you how, but basically.
Take of cap for fluid reservoir
Turn wheels between lock several times with ignition off. It will be hard as now PAS with ignition off.
You may see bubbles in reservoir hence air.
I used a...
Seriously would consider FK Automotive. They use a helper spring so you have a lighter spring before teh main spring so 2 stage in a way. They come with a spray can of stuff to keep them working properly and the adjustment rings dont round off.
They are also one of teh few makes to be TUV...
There isnt a 190. Either stick to teh standard 185/55/15 which are expensive although someone on ebay is selling 4x Eagle F1 in this size cheap, nearly 60 quid each new.
Next available size is 195/50/15 which has different characteristics, harder rider as lower profile and wider tyre which I...
Been running on the champion EON which I have found to be good.
Next time I am gonna try Denso Iridium, IK20 spark plug is the part for 16v and Willy. Supposed to be good.
Dont know of any1 but I would say go for it. Think there is another brand doing the same thing that has launch control also.
Think I did a search on google and it came up on a scoobynet discussion.
I paid £250 for a BB chip when I had my cambelt done and it made drivability much better...
Yeah go for the FK Automotive Highsport coilovers. They are not adjustable in terms of damping but are in terms of ride height.
The adjustables (damping) are called konigsporta nd cost about £150 more. Unless you are gonna be bother to take each wheel off or rummage around and adjust...
I thought the higher the profile cam, the more the powerband changes to be higher up, losing lower down.
That would probably contribute to the idling problem and make it a pig until you get to the magic higher rpm figure. Wouldnt have thought it would be worth it unless you are at those...
Again suppose on the condition in the first place. If you used it every 10k from new or on a rebuild or a healty car it can only help remove harmful deposits.
Yeah all these hidden costs. TBH I cant be bothered trying to get cheap tyres off the net unless dirt cheap. You have to get a local place to fit them and as there is no money in it for them they wont or will charge up top a tenner a wheel.
Found when I got mine they asked how much I had...
When I can afford it and when I can find one I will be doing the same. Only want the bottom end as I am using a supersprint manifold and that probably will only go on my F7P head.
At least if you go down the bottom end route surely this is just a bolt on to your existing head, negating need...
Just seen this on ebay:

Well worth it for those who still run original valver size. Not sure if Willy also used these as standard.
Trouble is most 15 inch wheel users go for 195/50/15. Paid 50 quid each fitted for two and Mytyres are only a pound or so less and then you have to find somewhere ad pay for fitting.
tyresonline.net are cheaper than mytyres now for supply only, at least they are on the 195/50/15 GSD3. £41.36...
72k is for first cambelt change, think all after that are 36k. End of teh day you either leave it as longs as you can and risk it snapping or carry out preventative maintenance and do it when you think it needs doing and can afford it. Id rather pay 160 quid for the peace of mind than have it...
Oil chaneg you can get done at National Tyres for 15 quid for Duckhams QXR semi synthetic and filter. Not worth doing yourself at this price. And at that price an get done before its due every 6k as will save on topping up costs.
Spark plugs, HT leads, Dizzy cap, rotor arm, check them as its...
Id speak to the tuners and judge that way. Would have thought BB would be a good start as they have a RR and should know of any gains with their cams.
Think their cams inc followers are 399 and 299 if you send your old cams back. Ktec are about 300 each plus followers but they are probably...
Did ya get the throttle body adaptor with it. What does it actually consist of i.e. viper, silicone hose, adaptor? And How much was it.
Suppose the BMC does not really work out any cheaper when you have to add cost of hose and adaptor on top and hassle of sourcing.
Both should be fine. BMC is cheaper and can be fitted differently to the Viper. On pics Ive seen the Viper sits near the radiator which obviously gets hot but hopefully the carbon viper will protect from that heat.
I ran the BMC backwards by moving the battery a little forward to allow...
