I believe for the points system to work the monocoque needs to be unmodified. This is off the .gov page.
Local lad near me has an Astra J estate turned into a 2 door van. It looks mega and something happened a year or 2 ago resulting it getting pulled in for a check and they put it on a Q...
Following, sounds like a great project.
With the modifications required to the monocoque shell for 4wd, itll defo fall under iva territory if your wanting it 100% legal.
No complaints here either. Step up from ps4 in terms of grip, the slightly stiffer sidewalls on ps5 aid turn in.
Mine also gripped very well with low tread. Changed back to my summer wheels with a fresh set of ps5 on and the difference was marginal.
Ive not used solid top mounts on a clio, but use them on other cars. As @Ph1 Tom said ive found them to be more than acceptable for road use and hardly any nvh increase, worth fitting if you want the handling to be on point.
Updates.
Kangoo not moved for a couple of weeks, had a few bits to pick up today so took it for a run out.
Anti Social parking as usual.
Work van nothing to see here.
Perfect vehicle for the task.
At max load capacity.
In other news my billet throttle adaptor should arrive this week...
Weekend update
Dying again with man flu or whatever so motivation was pretty low, anyway pulled my finger out and got it back together yesterday.
Bumper and grill back on, repairs to grill mounting points that have been broken since 2008 with plastic welder and epoxy rapid, no pics as working...
Probably wont hurt but never bothered personally, i leave them with minimum amount of fuel in and not had any issues over the years.
My extra van has been sat since Anglesey last year and it fired right up on last years fuel no issues. I did crack the ign on a couple of times over the year to...
Bumpstops always fall to bits on these, as they are used as secondary damping when lowered. I destroyed a bumpstop riding the kerbs at Blyton.
Id imagine the springs are progressively wound so will touch coils a bit.
Parked it up after Anglesey and done nothing until this week.
Small list of bits to do.
Reseal sump - c1j are a leaker anyway but this was getting to be horrendous. I have an undertray fitted and it was getting over the edge of that but hardly using any on the stick.
Assume position.
Found...
Does it actually have one? Never see them in non sport
To test, sit in the car and lock it with the button on the key, stay still until it sets and when you move the ultrasonics will sense movement and go off.
Probably wants new tie rods anyway if not done before. As above easy to do in situ with the tool.
If its cup pack, you will need the correct length tie rods to suit, prob best off using oem
I wish it was🤣
Ive finally started prepping the Extra van for Anglesey so ill be bolloks deep in subframe and sump removal tomorrow. If all goes well and good progress might get it done in a day.
The plastic on the aftermarket ones are terrible. I fitted one to my clio dci, the flap part that clips to subframe support snapped when fitting. Had to tie wrap it together
